Projects `47 Chrysler 3 window-Adding complexity.

It's been a big day for the big bottomed girl, the front fenders have been fitted and some front jewelry trial fitted...been a long time since it has been so complete looking, this has given it a huge psychological boost...

 

I must admit that her arse does look Phat

 

I have installed the headlining and front and rear screens








Also the diff arrived from the fab shop and it was painted and installed





they straightened the housing after the 4 link install and narrowing, then fitted the 4.11:1 gears, Tru-track hemisphere and 31 spline billet axles

 

Wow, the underside is insanely clean!! Nice looking car.

 

Is the headliner padded? Looks really good but looks padded to me. Who made it?

 

I purchased a headlining from ebay from Keller, Texas...allegedly template taken from original business coupe lining.
After ours of frustration and approx. $500 Aussie Dollars later, we threw it on the pile and took paper templates from the bows fitted in the roof (there was no existing head liner), from these templates, a replacement was made and installed with no problems.

It is not padded, just heavier gauge material...

 

Can you tell us the name of the person that sold you the bum headliner? Will save someone else some money.

I like the hat-holder. You make that, or was that an accessory item? Don't think I've ever seen one of those.

I sent a '48 Windsor convert down the road, too much work, at the time. Still like the looks & feeling of those.

Marcus, The hat-holder is a store bought item...I see them on ebay sometimes.

I am guessing you wish you still had the Windsor convert. Minnesota roads in winter were probably hard on cars though.

 

After unsuccessfully trying to find a usable glove box door to replace the original molded plastic original that had been baked in the Oregon high desert sun, I shaped a replacement from steel like the factory should have done back in `47





here are the remnants of the factory part





I have also fitted some of the side trim to allow me to close off on some more of the interior trim installation

 

The dash panel has been fitted...Art Deco in its glory...

I have recently purchased a replacement instrument cluster, which has prompted me to look at finalizing the under-dash wiring and related tasks...my regular auto-electrician has retired and I have been wading through relevant threads here to ease this forward.
Part of the process involves mounting wiring related components, which has prompted making kick panels to allow mounting the Centech fuse panel...the original interior trim had dissolved long ago and I am just fabricating parts that work...in this case, Aluminum inner panels that I will cover with Vinyl to match the rest of the interior.
Chryslers have an optional twin heater unit that duct air to the side of the cabin, the ducts are incorporated in the kick panels (in these photos, the R/H heater and fan cowling have been removed to facilitate fabricating the covers).

 

Cool air vents , first time I've seen them...

 

Wish my dodge had that.

Over the past several days, I have refitted the rear fenders and associated parts that I have been working on...these parts have never been assembled as a unit before





There was an opportunity to roll it out of the corner for a look






Still some distance to travel before it is finished, however it is getting closer...

 

This car looks absolutely stunning, waiting for the next update.

The engine builder has had the 392 for over a year...lots of excuses, it is always someone else at fault for the delays...during this time I have done a huge amount of work on my Dodge coupe







I have rebuilt my Dually...







And done a Ton of work on the Diamond T truck while I am waiting for the engine for the Chrysler
