    Hello,
No photo here, but every time we drive past this sign on a major So Cal freeway, it bugs me and a million other So Cal residents. We, in So Cal are sometimes weird, but not illiterate, not all of us obviously. Some times we hear tons of bad language and just shrug it off. But this giant advertisement for every traveler going south, looking out of the windshield, on this freeway just grinds the misinformation down our throats. There is NO "Funner, CA!!!"

We are not against gambling per se, but resort advertising should not be allowed to show the "dumbing down" of America. The daily dose of hot rods and custom cars(and a million other drivers) driving down this major north/south freeway in coastal So Cal is alarming, but things like "Funner, CA" is not funny or showing the intelligence of the local residents.

    Jnaki
There are plenty of people that like to go to resorts of all kinds, but this just puts off increasing the till on this place.

"Dumbing down is the deliberate oversimplification of intellectual content in education, literature, and cinema, news, video games and culture. The term "dumbing down" originated in 1933, as movie-business slang used by screenplay writers, meaning: "[to] revise so as to appeal to those of little education or intelligence". Dumbing-down varies according to subject matter, and usually involves the diminishment of critical thought, by undermining intellectual standards within language and learning; thus trivializing meaningful information, culture, and academic standards, as in the case of popular culture."

    Cambridge dictionary:
    dumbing-down noun
UK /ˌdʌm.ɪŋˈdaʊn/ US /ˌdʌm.ɪŋˈdaʊn/ informal disapproving
act of making something simpler and easier for people to understand, especially in order to make it more popular: the dumbing-down of television

  15. Which I take might mean perhaps you weren't actually driving, but rather sitting in your vehicle being transported around on the network of "conveyor belts" (i.e. Freeways & Interstates). ;)

Tons of great roads around here to keep one busy and entertained for hours on end, especially if ones ride is something specifically intended for spirited driving pleasure.

I admit I've made & keep making some decisive life choices & sacrifices that allow me to stay away from those (boring?) "belts" as much as possible, even with my DD.
On average, I probably use them 2-3 times a month and even then, often check/plan ahead if some "alternate" route is available and/or practical to use instead.
Most of my SoCal "driving" takes place on the roads one can't chance to take much pictures while behind the wheel.

Here's couple shots from todays 140+ mile leisure excursion up to SoCal mountains which included over 7000 ft. elevation changes, more twists, turns & sharp curves than one would think a set of tie-rod ends could handle in a single day, some hiking, very scenic roadside pick-nick lunch with ice cream and a good cigar for dessert.
As far as I'm concerned, this is what driving is or should be !

Climbing up the Hwy 38. That's "San Berdoo" way in the distance

    Somewhere at 6000 ft. altitude.

Hwy 18 with Big Bear Lake waaaay in the distance (can't really see it in the picture, but it 's there, straight above the cockpit, slightly below horizon).
