Slightly back to the drawing board.

The rubber seal on these plug caps don’t fit over my plugs. They are both really cool but one or the other will have to go. Probably the plugs.

Picked up this sweet 50s survivor Roadster to take up more space in my garage today.

Hope to have some fun with it before the weather turns, all though I do love a mean set of chopped side curtains

Extra chrome carbs for future blower(it take four to do it right) and intake for later roadster project.

    All back together again.

And after a little of my secret “nicotine” blend stain rubbed on. I’ll refine their look when installed on the car some day.
I’m sorry if my progress has let anyone down.

Building a hotrod with a soul and personality takes time. Anyone can order from the internet and have a ride in no time. Where is the fun in that? Your doing fine.

Thanks fellas for the kind feedback.
They are just a much cheaper version of the suicide latch made famous by 3wLarry in the black coupe.

The plan is to bolt a flat plate in the door jam with a tab that protrudes into the cockpit that has a hole in it. Then have some sort of pin maybe tool steel of a larger gauge than this 10d nail I stuck in the back to show you.

They are for vibe and to keep the door from blowing open. I have no blind faith that they will stay secure in a rollover or hard impact.
I really do dig that they are for a P-51 even though I’m more of a P-47 kinda guy.

    Merry Christmas

I was looking for a pic with Christmas spirit on my phone and this jumped out to me, probably from the color not the spirit?

  15. Where the hell have I been? You are doing very important things, and I am not talking about the hot rod. God bless you and your wife for watching over the children. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas.

Mark sadly the extra children are with another foster family. It was far too much for us to bare. It doesn’t rest easy with us but it’s quite complicated. All four after ours have different fathers who are in court conflicts contesting paternity with the state and what not. A quite depressing asterisk on the otherwise cheerful holiday.

Gramps turned 89 today! He’s doing well except for the fading eye sight. Played a game my Grandma use to love, chase the ace, with him, some of my aunts, uncles, plus the wife, great time, great day.
Now where’s that damn hot rod?

Actually I am, I think. At hospital right now before wife goes into surgery.

So I have no excuse for the pause on the car that would satisfy our hot rod addiction. Wish I could say I was building a Bobber, traveling the world, or Recording some great Album that would bring me loads of money to build a shop and buy parts. Alas I have been mired in family life. I made a choice as the lists around the house began to pile up to tackle the projects the Mrs. desired first(major renovations & alterations)then put more continual focus on my master piece. So I will leave the car alone till fall at the earliest. I want to sneak in finishing the seats and the grill during summer break but that’s a long shot. I started making a WinterFront outer surround from scratch for @ct1932ford (Mark)back around February, so I’d love to do his complete grill and send it to him. Around that time I needed money and sold my intakes. I have committed myself as I so often do while being stalled to go all in. I know it messes with my original purist’s vision but I just have to have a 4-71 and those four chrome throats gulping up top. I am a nitpicker so still making my peace with the chrome generator not being up top and centered the way they look best.
    Don’t worry friends “I can’t quit you”

Spending a fair amount of time researching this blower quest. I am waiting on some Joe Abbin books.
Anyone know of crazy persons like myself that could be running a street Flathead on Methanol?

A buddy runs an 8BA with a 6-53 blower on propane on the street. The 6-53 has lots of room to mount two mixers and fits the flatty like it grew there. He made his own plate style manifold with a chunk of aluminum a hole saw and drill press. The truck is fast on the strip and the flatty is basically a stock rebuild.
Vehicle propane is easy to get here and has lots of advantages. 6/53 blowers are damn near free compared to any of the 71 series

  30. Wyatt, how is everything at home? I know you have lots going on in life. This hot rod stuff just keeps us sane or at least diverted from family events. I was operated on last April and it does takes time to recover when you are an old fart like myself. Keep on pushing and let me know if I can be of any help to you and yours. Mark
