All them skins and hide's got me too thinking .... I was going to go with a black and white combo on the upholstery in my 50 Bel-Air well after seeing that calf hide door panel....well just happened too have a black and white calf hide so I pulled the seat out of the weeds and ....hell no problem ...snip here snip there a few hog rings and some stuffing , horse or donkey biskets to keep it traditional, and it will be pluuuusshhh...... Somewhere out there is an old magazine show picture of a Model "A" Pickup, whose complete exterior is covered with pleated, unborn-calfskin (save for the full-fenders, which are black).
Kudos to the one who can find it!

Found this one also.... I would think that if you drove that calf skinned model A pick up around you would have "Raw Hide" playing in your head.... IMG_20181006_145506~2.jpeg

    Thanks, rudestude! That's it!!!
Bottom row, second from right. Zoom in, and you can see the pleats on the body.
P.S., Bed and hood exterior surfaces are also upholstered.

Mick @straykatkustoms , any idea what the material in the inserts is called? We have been looking on the web trying to find a red in that material. I am guessing 1958-1960 GM.

The snakeskin shards in the Muntz made me shudder...recalling the rattler my right front 5.50 X 15 picked up and slung into the shotgun seat of the '29 roadster pickup...
Wasn't the tiniest thought of sewing that live rattling asp in there!
Let him out as quick as I could stop!

That's where I was looking. There are tons of options there. Trying to narrow it down.

I have Detroit(trade name) body cloth books dating back to 1955. One came out every year and all the fabrics(a piece) that were in production cars that year were in the books by makes. Ford, Chevy ect…. The vinyls, the cloths and the headliners. Possibly up to 1965 Roothawg.

So, is this stuff still in production? I am trying to google it, but I get all kinds of crap.

If anybody has it, it would be SMS. Possibly they have reproduced it or they do have a lot of NOS stuff as well. More than likely $125 a yard. It runs 54 inches wide on average. You better order it now, they are a little slow in shipping.

    That's awful loudbang.

  25. They are lucky they have the market cornered as I have never heard a company recommended as much yet still be seen as having one of the worst customer service records in the industry. "They can do it but you may never get it or it will take forever" seems to be an all too familiar refrain about them.

  27. Roothawg, I can't tell you what the material is called, but if it helps at all I think you are looking at the right brand and era as it sure looks like the green upholstery that was in dad's '59 Pontiac Parisienne..

    Happy hunting!
