Vintage lunch box/ personal cooler

I dont have one, but i am looking for some pictures of any that are out there. I hate having to carry a plastic cooler, and cant do the soft sided ones.

I wound up with a couple somehow. Ill get some pics. Be happy to trade for something . Im into antique wood working tools.

 

I carry one that my grandfather carried everyday to work at AC Sparkplug for decades. It's similar to the one above but is raw aluminum. Just last year I had to replace the handle. I'll snap a pic later.

 

My pops carried that same Thermos lunch box for years when he was working... wonder if he still has it?? I'll have to ask...

 

Not as nice as I thought . Seem tinny . But still worth a pic.

 

A couple of weeks ago in my utility room the ceiling fell in due to a water leak and when I climbed up in there to make repairs I found a coup!e of old lunch boxes in the rafters the house was built in 1905 buy my great-grandfather don't know how long they have been up there...one even had a thermos in it ,missing the cap and cup the brand name is the same for the thermos and box...the other one I couldn't find a brand name on it....you never know what you will find in these old houses...hell just today I was using a metal detector in my yard, it's one acre,and found a old possibly model T rim about a foot down in the dirt... couldn't find the rest of the car though.....

@Hyvolt I found this 1930's LEYSE aluminum lunch box at a swap meet last Friday. It has it's fair share of scars and plenty of character! I also noticed etchings on it from previous owners. Imagine the stories this thing tell if it could talk. It's cool because you feel like you're carrying a piece of history.


I especially like all the rounded corners. It looks like an Airstream and screams art deco.

 

That is cool. Can you get a good picture of that winged emblem? I want to find one of those.

I'm so fond of the vintage aluminum lunch box I found at a swap meet last week, that I found another one.
This is a Priscilla Ware. Other than a few minor dings it's in remarkable condition. It still has the thermos bracket on the inside. I think I'm going to polish this one to a mirror shine/finish. The other lunch box will remain "as is" because it just looks so cool dirty and beat up.

(Not a ding on the corner...that's just a lot of shine from a few minutes of polishing)


When I get some time I will use my buffing wheel.

Had a peaceful afternoon polishing my 1930's Priscilla Ware aluminum lunch box. Added a WWII St. Christopher wing for good measure. Kinda sad cool stuff like this is no longer made. My 3 year old said she wants to use this for her lunch box. Awesome!! She'll have the coolest lunch box at daycare.

 

Too cool. Now I have to look for one of those.

I found another Priscilla Ware aluminum lunch box. It was in nice condition, actually remarkable condition considering its age. I spent the afternoon buffing it out to a brilliant shine; I think it turned out nice. Added a 1940's St. Christopher wing for good measure.
The last one my daughter wanted, so this one goes to my boy. @Hyvolt

 

This is a lunch box made in Canada that I found at a yard sale(just found another one)that I use to store my paint chemicals in when I travel.

 

I found my 4th Priscilla Ware aluminum lunch box. This one has a little more "character" than my other 3 (as in some small dings and scratches)

I spent the afternoon buffing it out on my buffing wheel. I added a 1940s St. Christopher wing because they look so good on these boxes.

 

I found another Priscilla Ware aluminum lunch box. Today I spent some quality time buffing and polishing. Also added a St. Christopher wing and some Go Fast Don't Die.





I have 5 of these darn things now

 

That is indeed a very cool lunch box, I hate to be a copy cat, but I too will now look for one of those. I can totally understand the St. Christopher medallion with the wings, its very cool, but I thought I would give you a couple of shots of the very cool "REO V Crown badge ". Its smooth and flat on the back, and it has studs if you need them as well. These are easily found at swap meets from the vendors that always a ton of script and trim, I have two of them, so I know there are more out there. They polish up nicely and in my opinion they would look great on one of these polished Priscilla ware lunch boxes.

Damn that is cool as hell

 

The ribs on a Thermos jug are 6 tpi . I machined 2 bases and cut one up for cup holders in my 57 Fairlane . ( if this is in the wrong place Delete )
