  1. Glad it worked out.

The first pan they sent out may be alright; original purchaser may have assembled engine on stand, then realized that pan wouldn't fit the chassis he was planning. If you got to keep it, it can be a spare, or swap material.

I like Speedway with the exception of I get Summit in a max of 2 days if they have it in Nevada. Speedway is always a week.

I will chime in on speedway always first class. If there was or is a problem it is corrected quickly. Phone service top notch also.

I order a lot from Speedway and Summit, I seldom have a problem.
The only issues I have ever had were with Stewart Warner gauges.
I called and told them of the problems and they made it good with replacements.
The replacements did the same thing and they replaced them again.
They told me they were having quality control issues with Stewart Warner.
    All is well now.
Speedway and Summit are both A+ in my opinion.

Must be a location issue. With standard shipping I can normally get my stuff in under 24 hours if I order before 1pm. I think they get stuff out the door right this minute and then it’s all on the shippers at that point.

  7. That pan was the 1st one made & the "tester pan". A rare piece! Seriously, I 've always had good experiences with Speedway. Years ago I got some rotors for an OT crossmember conversion set-up. They were mishandled by the carrier. Speedway accepted the return with no issues.

My experience also, and from 1/2 a world away.
I don’t understand why the op first reaction was to post this thread, as opposed to first trying to rectify the situation with speedway motors directly.
However, seems a desirable outcome was achieved.

My question is why would you post here before calling them and getting an explanation?

I have returned parts that come with a project car I bought that were 7 years old and I didn't even buy the parts, the PO I got the project from did. As long as I had the original receipt they gladly took back over $1500 worth of 7 year old parts. I also got the Speedway gift card but stood at the sales counter and spent the entire thing plus another grand buying parts for the car as soon as they handed me the card. The even have a bunch of "used" cards they keep at the counter just for deals like this where they know the refund will be spent immediately. No issue with the gift card and they had no issue returning 7 year old parts I didn't even buy (I was honest and explained the entire thing on the phone before I drove out to return all the parts). I see their information page now says 60 days though. I'm going to test that since I have a few more items I want to return that are slightly over 60 days out. Says items returned after the 60 days are subject to a 15% restocking fee.

I was wondering about that. He also left 1 star customer rating at Speedway for all to see even though he was happy with the outcome. Looks like his 1 star was because he couldn't figure out how to contact Speedway. Think their phone number is listed on EVERY page they ever printed.

I've used Speedway for many, many years. Back into the mid 70's. They have always done everything to represent the part fairly and correct any issues I ever had. No reason to complain in all those year. Same for Summit and Jegs. They have all treated me tight for many years.

Yes, the one star was because no way to email them. The old saying, "pics or it didn't happen". I wanted to email pics, not fit for a verbal convo. The only way i could email, was replying to the email they send me when i have parts in my checkout cart, and pestering me to complete my purchase. I dont even have an account, check out as a guest and still they know when i put parts in the cart. I dont care for that. I will handle a situation like this differently in the future, as well as shopping around too. I am changing the review on the site, they did take care of the situation.

I get Summit parts overnight, Speedway 3-4 days. Both have been sterling to me, and recommend 'em.
However, there is a 'group' that gets mentioned on here constantly. I think it's owned by Jack Hoffman? A 'group', yet. Their China axle is dropped an honest 4".

I have had nothing but great service from Speedway. In fact, next Friday we leave Oregon for Carlisle and Hershey swap meets and my second place to stop on the way will be the Speedway Motors Museum. We went south a little ways before Lincoln 4 years ago to Minden Nebraska so this year we will do Speedway.

  16. Speed Way is one of the best companies. I have delt with lots of parts co. over the past 40 years, and they are near the top for service, tech help, and correcting a problem. I find them painless to deal with.

Old one doesn’t seal anymore, cars low and the old ones been dinged to many times, stripped oil plug and cheaper to just buy a new pan, sump in the wrong spot with the old pan.

Just a few off the top of my head

I bought a set of rear brakes for a 9" from Speedway. Found out the backing plate was drilled for a new big end and I had an old style big end. This was discovered 30 days after I purchased and another day there would have been a restocking charge. I told them I was going to the museum in the following three weeks and they said I could drop them off for a full refund, no questions asked. Unfortunately they do not carry brakes for the old housing but in the mean time I found a great outfit who custom make every brake set to your specs, Quick Performance in Ames IA.

Dave, try to schedule as much time as you can for the Speedway Museum. We got there mid day and they had to escort me out at quitting time because I wasn’t through looking! Lol
They have one of the best car/engine/race Museum I’ve ever seen. Your going to love it, and promise!

I've bought lots from speedway and only had one issue.
They basicly told me tough luck! LoL
Regardless...I've bought from them since and will again.
Can't beat the amount of dedicated parts and the wait time isn't bad even though I'm a bit off the beaten path.

I actually had an unintentionally good customer service experience with them a couple years ago. I bought a set of 70" lake pipes that were nice, but they seemed longer than the one I was replacing. Sure enough, they were 74". I left a comment in the review section just as an FYI to anybody buying them that the pipes ran long on measurement. My car was long enough that it wasn't a big deal, but someone else might have a fitment issue. Out of the clear blue someone emailed me, apologized for the inaccuracy, and gave me a $20 store credit for the issue. I thought it was a nice sentiment.

We got to the Speedway museum at 1pm. They open at 12:30, guided tour starts at 1. It was over by 3:30 and the guide said we had very little time before closing. We rushed back through taking pics and got out at 4 then looked online and it says they close at 4:30. :( If we had known that some of my pics might not have been blurry from clicking on the run! Ya really need 2 days to see it all. Tons and tons of really cool stuff!

  27. I've had pretty good luck with Speedway and I get my parts in less than an hour. Well, I live about 40 miles from Lincoln and the speed limit on the interstate is 75 mph...makes it nice.

I’ve had to return several gauges to speedway as they just quick working. However, they always replace them
