Bugatti King U-16 (two 8's two crankshafts) Aero engine built under license by Duesenberg during WWI. Bob
Hope this is the place to ask this question. Lots of good info here. When I was a kid, I visited James C. Leake’s Horseless Carriage Museum, here in Muskogee. While there, in my memory, I saw a Dusenburg that had a straight 16. Two straight 8s inline. As the world turns, my current brother-in-law worked for Leake for many years, he said he didn’t remember a straight 16 in the collection. Wonder if anybody here knows of this car, or did I remember it incorrectly? Thanks in advance. Bones
Porsche Flat 16 (Because apparently the 1500+ Hp Flat 12 that dominated CAN-AM racing wasn't enough.....)
A good rule of thumb with boats is 1 gal per hour per 10 hp. So with those SeaMasters rated at 438 Hp each (typically installed in 40' or larger power boats with at least two motors). You should be burning through 40 to 45 gal/hr at full tilt, up to 90 gal/hr with a twin screw. With that thought in mind, how much fuel do you think PT Boats drank with 3 1500 Hp Packard V12's installed?
The W-24 Duesenberg above ran this summer at Clear Lake, CA. Boat is a Dodge Brothers. Engine was fitted with an Allison 1710's centrifugal supercharger shortly after WW2; makes 1100+ hp on the dyno.
Better than porn... Well, better than most porn.. I'm a custom, hood closed kind of guy, but this stuff is art.
