So we picked this 1928 Chevy roadster(?) up on Saturday. It's titled as a '28 Chevy but the only thing left is the frame and steering column. It has '36 Plymouth front suspension, T spring in the rear and an S10 rear axle. Body is handmade but kind of ugly. And it's very rat-roddy. Soo....within 24 hours of owning it we already narrowed the rear about a foot, moved the grill back and tore it apart. Plans are for a 283 (we already have it), whitewalls, maybe cheaters in the rear, making it more of a tub/bucket with sides and nice paint. Whoever built this car knew how to weld and everything is very solid. It's just covered in surface rust and some really bad styling.

So one more RR dead and one more hot rod born. I feel better. 20180922_143426.jpg 20180922_143439.jpg 20180923_152848.jpg 20180924_184450.jpg received_424858858044110.jpeg

    So (?).
Cool. So - looks like it's go plenty of engine bay room for most any engine.

Yeah, we're moving the engine back. There was about a foot of space between the rear of the engine and the firewall. And moving the grill back makes it look much better.

Have ugh about trying a straight 8 in that engine bay just for fun? However, your plan sounds good.

Model A front cross member would compliment that wiggly Plymouth front axle 'right down to the ground'!
Love the late '20s Chevy frames, but the windshield is a little too 'Steampunk', with all its 'rivets'...
All told, you DO look good in there! Congrats on a great decision...nice 'set o' wheels' there, proceed in that direction!

We did think about a six or straight eight but we have the 283 and we're broke.
The box is Corvair but the column is Chevy. And it's probably going also.

And don't worry the windshield is long gone.

And by the way that's my son Ed in the pic. He and his brother are always out in the garage with me. Love 'em!

That's one of the better looking rat rods. Most I've been seeing lately is a hacked up truck cab sitting on an S10 frame with a model t grill

I don't think they would fit. But for some reason I still want them.
