went to buy some roof tiles and ended up coming home with this little gem, 56 Simca Aronde, sat in a barn covered in dirt/dust in Lower Normandy France. Older resto and in real nice shape with zero rust, make cool mini custom.
Nice find! Over the decades the French have made some very interesting cars, both in terms of engineering and style. Ray
Yeah, there's probably more interest in it as a stocker than it would generate as a custom. Leave it to the restorers and take their cash!
These small cars make great customs, especially the Grand Large model (coupe without B pillars). My friend Philippe Danh (an ex-Hot Rod Magazine writer/photographer) built this one in France about 35 years ago. Richard King from the UK chopped it. Philippe still owns it & it's ready to receive a V8-60 from a Simca. I took the El Mirage pics in 1988.
Cool car, never saw a two-door/coupe version before. Reminds me of Ratatouilles car. Here's another nice one:
The two Customs kinda remind of 53-4 Chevys. The one pic with the Bug beside it shows how small they are! Nice save, someone is sure to appreciate it, Carp.
The Simca, Cal Look Bug and '57 Bel Air in front all belonged to the staff of Rod et Custom Magazine (France) around 1983-84. Pic (not by me) was taken after the staff picked up ZZ Top at the airport. They travelled to Paris for a concert, i.e., the band is in these 3 cars.
