i know lots of threads on here about rears that fit a model a but i need to know what center pinion rear end will work I haven’t found info on that. 57- 58 inches wide is what i would like. Thanks guys
Most fellas like the rear ends that center the 3rd member housing rather than the pinion purely from a looks perspective. Is there a reason you like the centered pinion? Just curious. PS, The Bronco rears Pete mentioned work nice for a coupe (coupes are skinnier than a sedan) if you can find a reasonable priced one. -Abone.
Yeah building a coupe and the engine and trans are centered in the frame so a centered pinion would work out best. I know some guys run a slight offset pinion even with the trans centered but i think it puts a lot of strain on the u joints, imo. Pet yes i thought 57 59 ford had it didn’t know bronco did though, are you talking about 66-77 broncos.
If you use the '66-mid '70s bronco you also get the 5 on 5 1/2 bolt pattern so you can run early ford wire or steelies. I run one under my '33 coupe. Cheers, Stewart.
Pete& Jakes sells a 9” that fit right, chunk is close to the middle, I don’t think any of them are exactly in the middle.
I know this is crazy, but I have a 70 thru 80 International Scout rear in my 40 Ford. 58 inches wide with 5 1/2 bolt circle and centered pinion. They are Salisbury design Dana 44's and will take some abuse. They come in ratios from 3.07 to 4.27 and the ring and pinion ,bearings etc for Dodge ,Ford and Chevy trucks will interchange. They sure don't bring the stupid Bronco rear prices either.
Really this car is being put together with a lot of stuff i have accumulated over the years little Chevy motor auto it will look stock on the outside no chop running boards and fenders and would like to keep it 60s style. Oh I don’t eat lunch. Thanks everyone so far.
