Great score Chris! Play the lottery this week. Heck, people have been after the cars for 40 years and as luck would have it, you get a call asking if you're interested!
BTW, someone misspelled Alley Oop. They spelled it Alley Opp.

That's cool you were also able to save some of that other stuff. It's a shame to see stuff get thrown out or scrapped but the people can't sit on it forever either, you gotta get while the gettin's good.

Nice score---Can't say you got lucky, prolly good Karma. Here's a bit of off the wall trivia. When Alley Oop was recorded, the "pick up" studio bands lead guitarist was Glenn Campbell. Bill

Pretty kooky video of that...Long Haired Caveman Hoodlums introduced by Dick Clark...I think......in 1960...

It is interesting as @Nobey said the character at least in print transitioned from caveman to Hotrod/Race and reading the text someone knew what they were talking about...Alley Oop...;)

It would be interesting to know when that was put on the Ole Jalopy...

I'm not so sure it's a miss spelling.
I think maybe it was for alley operation only, as in not ready for the open road, kinda like the urban version of a field car.

Kidding of course, great score Chris!

  11. Didn't 'Jim-Bob' paint his roadster white? You don't suppose he dove out to the far left coast after the show was over, do you?? LoL!!!!

  12. Cody got his car cleaned out and pressure washed. Both cars are really really solid.

  13. I cleaned mine as well, but didn’t take any pictures. But you can see how solid it is. The only rot I can find in mine is a very small amount on the drivers side cowl bottom

I thought I saw one in the pile of parts that looked like it had been run over a couple if times.

Wow Chris, you do find good stuff. Looking forward to seeing where you go with that one. So what's the car count up to now?

    Very Nice, great find!

  19. Yeah that was laying with the car. A good friend of mine bought the door for his car. It was pretty beat, but not rusty at all. I think with a new skin it would be a nice door

  20. Too many. More junk then one guy should own. I need to sell a car or two. But I have worked myself into the hole I always swore I would never get in... have more cars then storage and you love all your cars and don't want to part with any of em. With the exception of this roadster, every car I own runs, drives and is fully paid for and licensed. But who can drive 8-10 cars at a time? Stupid....

Boy, have I got a deal for you. I just happen to have more covered parking spaces than cars and I'll be happy to help with your problem. I'll fly up to your place and drive one of yours back to TN.
If it will help, I will bring a friend on the first trip and we can bring back two of your cars which should really alleviate your problem. What do you think?
You, at your convenience, can have a really great road trip driving another of your cars down to my place. We can socialize and you can sight see all you want and then, when you decide to return home, can take back one of the cars we brought down. The way I see it, you should be able to get several different road trips by a number of various routes and never have to drive the same car.

I'm in the same boat. I wish I could say they all run and drive, two are BIG, non-running projects that I just can't seem to let go of. I did thin the herd by two this year, it didn't hurt as bad as I thought.
Any idea which way you'll go with this one? Clean, painted A/V8 or a more rustic TROG style?
