What’s a good plain and simple wiring harness for a 6v Model A? I’ve never done hot rod wiring before with a harness and I don’t need any fancy accessories like a dome light and electronic gauges and senders. Everyone (American Autowire, ect) I’ve seen has been rated for 12v, would it work for 6v?

You need thicker wire for 6 Volts. When the Volts are cut in half, the current (Amps) doubles for the same load. The directional light flasher also must be rated for 6 Volts. Maybe someone knows of a company that makes 6 volt rated harnesses.

  3. What motor are you running?

  4. Are you using the original switch at the bottom of the steering column?

I’m using the banger, with an electronic distributor from FSI.

No, Im not using the stock switch. Im not sure if stock wiring would work because of alternator, electronic distributor, turn signals ect. I’m also using a Flathead style starter that uses a solenoid doesn’t have the inline fuse at the switch.

  9. I just bought a few different color/pattern wire to wire up my '28. Just buy some fabric coated wire (or regular if you want), a fuse block, some terminal ends and make your own.

I've used glass fuse blocks and blade type. It's tough to find a new good quality glass fuse panel now, so I've been using blade panels from Blue Sea (boat parts).

I think all the wiring in the kit is 14-10 gauge. Would be plenty for 6V. I am being a little anal about this, as I am a machine control electrician in real life. Or pretend to be.
