I need nerfs for the coupe but have no idea what I want. Rest assured that I'll know it when I see it.
Im pretty sure this is my favorite Tudor Ever I see it every year at BTT 50's and absolutely Love it.
I've always known these as nudge bars, but maybe that more closely defines the small singular items rather than a full width bumper style item. They are so much of a hot rod item, but sadly some on occasions just look so industrial and butt ugly on the wrong car. Nerf bars done well really look the part. I always like looking at the side bars in front of the rear wheel, I find these the hardest to make look good. I guess they say speedway more than hot rod. I am working on a pair of front bars for my current project which I will post when they are done.
Hey Ryan, I was reading this thread to get some ideas for my new ride. It reminded me of one your dad and I did years ago. Do you remember this one?
Brackets are large, but the plan is to weld in a receiver hitch to tow a vintage camper into the Symco car show.
So im kicking around the idea of making a front nerf bar for my single seater build. My question is how do you roll a piece of 3/4 stock into a circle? I want to build an old school bar that has a top and bottom with a circle in the middle with a letter T inside the circle.
Eds survivor roadster, the front nerf survived, the rear did not so i made a new one that i think jives with the set up
I think I would heat it and pull it around a pulley (or similar) of the appropriate size? Use stainless and polish it all when you are done. Cheaper than a chrome shop!
While on a summer visit to my Grandparents home in Stamford, CT I found a complete nerf tube bumper by the railroad tracks. About 1 in heavy wall tubing and chrome plated, my Father knew what it was but would not let me take it back home. I think that I was about 8 or 9 at the time.
I'd weld an end of the 3/4 to the inside of a wheel with the diameter you like ant then heat the bar and turn the wheel. Bob
Hey, what do you guys think of the nerf / chin bar on this 40 pickup? I'm really thinking about this for my 41, instead of a bumper. Rich
