I welded the rear fenders. Onto this '47 Ford coupe. I will weld a strip over the top to minimize filler on the front 3/4 of the seam. Its starting to look like a custom! I'll do a build thread on this car soon.

My budget doesn't allow for a pro paint job on my 51 Chevy p.u., so i thought i would just do it myself with flat tinted primer. That way people wouldn't look too close at the prep job. Went down to my local paint store to get some flatner for some paint i already have. Was shocked when i was told the flatner was $95 a a quart, and i needed a quart of flatner for every quart of paint! So that is $400 for a gallon of paint! Can't do that, so went down to a painter i know who paints cars on the side at at home. I would rather spend the money on labour , and have a pro do it instead. I know he will treat me right.

  5. Today I found out that if you use ARP head bolts on a BBC engine then the cast iron exhaust manifolds will have to have clearances ground into them because the ARP bolt heads stick up higher than the oem head bolts. So I spent the entire day grinding and fitting and grinding and fitting exhaust manifolds. This was on the Corvette exhaust manifolds, I don't know about other models.

Didn’t do all this in one day, but moved my lift to another location in the shop. Wanted to move it intact, thinking not disassembling would be less work. Well, it probably was more man hours doing it this way, but it was satisfying to do it nonetheless. :)

  7. FYI, they make a thin head version. Ran into the same problem with headers. No I don't have a part # and had to call and talk to them to find out a cure.

  8. I wish they would have made this common knowledge. I would have used oem bolts if I had known this.

  9. Yesterday I had to tighten one of the exhaust flanges on my Ford to quiet it down, did it cold and worked from under the hood... off to the gym... seems like I'm most likely to get FUBARed going to the gym...

Anyway, heading out and wanted to get gas on the way, car has a dead miss. Knocked a plug wire off it seems, pull over, scorch my hand on the manifold, close the hood and put it away, fixed it later when it was cool. After dinner... go for a ride, it was a nice night. Get home, one of my low beams is out, the bright doesn't work on that side, hope its just the bulb, will swap them side for side or put a tester on the socket. Fix one thing, break 2 others...

I moulded in the rear pan and filled the fuel filler hole on the fender of this '47 Ford coupe. Fun stuff!

  12. 2nd degree burn on my left hand has finally blistered, doesn't hurt much considering the size. Replaced the low beam on my '59 Ford, went to local chain store... $16.99.. oooffff.. but there was something rattling around in the box. Got home, opened it and found a nice toggle switch inside of it. AND the light worked.

Gathered up 10 of my buds to do a car show at the old folks home where my Mother in law lives. The Residents really enjoyed it and it was fun listening to the stories of the cars they had owned. Packed up around 1:00 and went to the shop to work on the OT drag week L* engine . Fired on first crank. :D Good day in my book.

  18. Covered my front seat with a Mexican type blanket, the seat was getting worse. I have to take a picture or 2. Crawled under and tightened my exhaust on 1 side, may have to replace a plug wire.. have to stagger out in a bit. Supposed to go to a car show off the ocean, but VERY overcast here so far.

Fixed what I thought was a pressure plate issue on my 37 Chevy but was a loose jamb nut on the adjuster.
