1960 was the year I turned my beater Henry J in too a full custom convertible,by 63 my "J" was in Car Craft mag in jan.
I wish more photos had made it though time, but I have lost at lest a bag full. Fit of Olds Rocket 88 an using a 53 Study rear window as a front windshield among many other bits. Folding top off a 55 Bird.

Too plush up the inside, I added 53 Desoto dash board, that I padded black. The seat I got from junkyard from a 55 Nomad/leather<had to redesign the end caps a little/they hit the door panels, also padded but thinner right were ends of seat was. The Chevy seat was a big jump from the stock Henry J. CarCraft J 1963.jpg

  3. This is the interior of my old Chevy coupe; complete with button tufted naugahyde (remember that?), centre console and "reverb" in the dash!! Ha, ha!

I never noticed in previous posts that the Astorian has stripes in the right side seats only, not on the left. I like that. A subtle departure from the ordinary and expected. Makes a guy want to take a closer look at the rest of the car.

Is it just me being slightly irritated by the crooked lines on the pleats and trim on the headliner...on a high price custom like for Elvis? Probably being a modern perfectionist but it seems lots of old builds suffered from manufacturing exactness...

Here's my 32 I bought a few years back. Probably built in the late 60's or early 70's. Lotsa padding inside and out with a little fur thrown in to keep it groovy ;). DSC_0519.JPG DSC_0526.JPG DSC_0516.JPG DSC_0517.JPG

    Plush and padded, for sure!
The walnut backed seats survived the restoration; But, sadly, not so the defining button pleated upholstery.

I'm not one to criticize, but...Seriously?

p.s. I'd always wondered about the interior of the "Continental".. Liked the car, wondered where it went to, and never saw the inside.. Thnx.
