Technical 4DR - To - 2Dr Conversion...Wagon?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by MrGasser, Mar 9, 2018.

  1. I have cut the back doors out and made a mini wagon of a couple tri 5s. Never made a real 2 door out of one but it can't be that hard. The handyman wagons don't use special doors so I would assume that you could make a handyman wagon out of one pretty easy.

How about grafting the back portion of a wagon onto a 4 door hardtop and having a hardtop wagon. That'd be pretty cool.

  3. I've only ever seen one shorty wagon that looked right. It was a '55, and the guy used 2-dr doors and Nomad style rear wheel openings centered on the quarterpanels (axle moved back). Kind of an early Bronco flavor to it, only lower. I think you could make a go of it with moved stock style wheel openings too. With the wheelbase change, much better proportions.

I don't see this working as well with the '56/57 as the overall styling and wheel opening on these don't lend themselves to this.

The window deal could be fixed easily with a small channel, like at a vent window, to mate the two pieces of glass. You could even make the new window roll down. I'd be willing to bet that very few people would even notice it....
