It says something on that manifold; "for xxxxx use only". Can anyone read it?

Well it's a wrap-Back home after a solid weekend of fun with all you Hambers who were there! The banger was a little rich, but started and ran fine all weekend. Got just shy of 20mpg on the reliability run so couldn't complain. Congrats to Binger for editors pick!

Thanks Grady. It was good to see you. I am excited a banger won the editors pick. It was a surprise to me that my plain little car caught his eye.

Here's a little head scratcher for you guys- my car ran perfectly (dual 94's)for the hour or so that I drove it on the way to HRHc and during the reliability run. I built these carbs a couple years ago for my flattie and they are really good. Sat. morning it seemed a little rich but started fine and ran okay. . I chalked it up to the 8k +ft. elevation. As the day went on however it ran progressively worse each run (popping out the pipe, really gassy etc.) When I got home I rolled it off the trailer and oil level was up and smelled of gas. Figuring I had blown a PV, I popped the carb body off and sure enough the little PV well was wet. Replaced PV, changed oil and started it-ran exactly the same! Checked and well was wet again? These are good PV's from Dick York and seal very well I've never had a prob with them. Anyway, went over everything with a fine tooth comb, dried everything out, filled float bowl and let it set last night. Checked this morning and bottom of carb is damp. Looked close-carb body itself is seeping! I took a picture with the PV out but it had kind of dried out by then. I had an autolite body do that 25 years ago but not since then. Just a little oddity, now I need to go dig through my 94 bodies.....

The new Power Valves have a radius where the gasket seals against the bottom of the bowl. It won't allow the gasket to seal as it interferes with tightening the power valve against the gasket. The radius needs to be turned flat, removed basically so the gasket will seal.
I think I have some power valves with me and I'll try to take photos tomorrow as I don't know if my description made sense.

Winduptoy- yes I'm aware of the gasket sealing issues with some of the pv's-these fit/seal perfectly. These carbs have been run quite a bit on my v8. It's actually seeping thru the casting above the pv. I filled the cavity around the pv with carb cleaner tonight, upside down. It seeps out around the column that the brass dealy sits in for the acc pump. I wish I could get a decent picture. Very curious but not hard to rectify if I can find a good body.

Ok, I understand that you understand....took photos anyway. I always question mechanical fittings and joints before going anywhere else.... IMG_20180920_081021127_HDR.jpg
