Quite the place, I've spent many happy hours there. At one time my Brother In Law lived just down the street from there, it was real handy to go out and visit him and slip down to Pioneer Village for a few hours. Admission was reasonable also. :)

The Cabana is still there. I believe that it is empty and for sale now. It was once (in the last 15 years, or so) converted to jail space by either the City of Dallas or Dallas County. The Beatles stayed there as did most famous people who visited Dallas. It is rather close to downtown.

The Statler Hilton in downtown Dallas. My friend's dad was the architect/designer for the original interior. This hotel was just recently refurbished and re-opened. I work in corporate audio, but I have yet to do an event in this property.

I don't know where in Lancaster this picture was taken back in the day but the town sure has grown up and out in the last 63 years. Sure would like to have some of the cars in the picture!

I think all of Dales cars had a continental kit moulded into the boot. There was another guy doing similar work to Dale at the time, I think this is one of his creations. I saw Dale about 2 years ago at American Independants Day at Guildford NSW Australia in his Studebaker convertible.

I've been through too many of these roasted race car deals. They usually don't do the cars or the drivers much good.

  27. Top postcard, California and Neal Streets in Socorro. That brick wall by the Golden Manor hides a fire hydrant. I have a great story about flushing hydrants when I was with the F.D. and snapping the stem inside said hydrant.......ahhh the memories.

They always point out the inadequate fire fighting equipment at the majority of short tracks.
