I guess it's something to be able to finish this thing with a car like this... :)
Jim, that is the understatement of the year! This has been incredible, building it in such a short time with a couple of distractions thrown in and taking it untested and running Drag Week and finishing it is amazing!

What is the deal with guys building a Mopar with a "lesser" drivetrain?

You done good Jim . Get a good nights sleep and look at it with fresh eyes in the morning. You know better than anybody what the best call is. I'm jealous of what you have accomplished thus far. Sincerely Lumpy.

Old school trick from waaay back...
Cut off a short chunk of vacuum hose and tuck it behind the points to increase spring tension.
Only used to check for point bounce (test or strip), not full time (street).
You didn't mention if you have another set of points, so this WILL wear out the rubbing block if used for long.

This happened to me! I was chasing my tail until I found a very old set of Accels... Installed them, and problem solved!

Thank you for posting this thread, worth every minute of reading it. You sir are a very talented guy! And the reward for your hard labor of dipping into the tens, without shaking the car down before racing it, is amazing. You are my hero, thank you for the inspiration!

Just saw after day 4, 62 cars have dropped out, just goes to show how finishing is a BIG DEAL. And In a NEW car puts it at the top. The Cool bar just got raised! Can’t wait to see the Cuda after you get more time with it. Congrats Jim

They mentioned Jim's '55, forgot about that. Then there's the Chevy II, the Corvair, the Edsel, the Hearse...

Been a week of hard work for you Jim, but you can certainly be proud of what you've accomplished!
Was an honor to meet you last Mon. and get a chance to see the car close up and talk with you face to face.
Wish I could have been there today for the finale, but I've got to get my roadster ready for next weekend and our little Nostalgia race at Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds, GA for Run What Ya Brung.

I thought your approach to the Zoomie exhaust collectors was unique; then I saw this on E-Bay. It's just a model engine, but the "collectors" are similar; E-Bay item # 113247094387. I'm really surprised how straight all the reworked or stretched body panels are on the Barracuda. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

  19. For several days I was able to watch the car transform from a new build to a seasoned veteran. What you don't see is all the fine tweaking that was done each day. Not only at the track but on the road. Adjustments were made at gas stops or any other time we had to pull over. It was hot every day. Temps were in the 90s with high humidity. Regardless of the conditions every time I looked over work was being performed. Its through this hard work that the car has evolved into what it is at the end of the week. Congrats my friend on a job well done. 20180911_142256.jpg 20180910_175854.jpg 20180911_142256.jpg 20180910_175854.jpg

    Thanks everyone!

The car didn't run very good today, 11.92. That's ok, we made it. Getting ready to head west. I need a vacation.

After watching your 55 and the Chevy II I'm sure you will have the cuda in the 9's next year.

    Safe travels.
