I had my buddy tig up my steering box extension so I was able to mount the box and poke a hole thru the cowl. IMG_3194.JPG IMG_3195.JPG IMG_3196.JPG I also started ruffing out a dash so I can mount my steering column to it. IMG_3197.JPG IMG_3198.JPG IMG_3200.JPG

Had an old tie rod laying around for my drag link but it was three inches to long. I cut it off and borrowed a buddies 11/16 right hand tap. Holy cow what a bitch to tap but I got it. IMG_3209.JPG IMG_3210.JPG

Sometimes what seems to be a simple project takes forever and fights you all the way.

You can say that again! I watched my buddy drop a washer down the distributor bore in a 289 Ford I have in a car I’m building.... talk about an easy job getting real hard real quick

I havent been getting much done lately on the car. I wanted to fill the holes in the frame but didnt want to weld them shut so I turned carriage bolts down on the lathe and I found some sickle bar rivets at my local farm supply store.
I like the looks of the bumps on the side of the frame. IMG_3229.JPG IMG_3230.JPG IMG_3237.JPG

It has been a fun little project. The only rule I have is to make it safe other than that the rule book has been thrown out the window.

I had to make clearance for my driveshaft but couldnt move my seat riser. I used a piece of wood clamped to the pipe to guide the hole saw. IMG_3251.jpg IMG_3253.JPG IMG_3254.JPG IMG_3255.JPG

I got my floorpan/footwell mounted to the bottom side of the frame. I think my last big hurdle will be clutch and brake pedal placement. IMG_3262.JPG IMG_3263.jpg

I built a set of hinges so I can flip the seat forward to access the back to the tail section. IMG_3270.JPG IMG_3266.JPG IMG_3267.JPG IMG_3268.JPG

Are you going to latch it down some way? I'm going to install new seats in my model A and am thinking of installing a hinge in front so they can flip forward like this, to access behind them, but I'd want them latched when in the down position.

  24. Love the simplicity of those hinges, great idea using a piece of angle then craving it up.
Plus the hole saw guide,I’m sure these will be copied by a lot more people than me.

Yes I will come up with some kind of latch for the back, just have to stew on it for a bit and see what I come up with.
Thanks, its different but fits the build.

Thank man, Angle Iron seems to be my go to I used it to build my hurst style motor mount, part of the footwell/floorpan and now seat hinges. Just cut it up and throw a few curves on it and it doesnt look like angle iron.

I have an idea for a little spring latch for the back of the seat.
Yes your old wheel does look pretty darn good in there.
