He’s just tuning it in to win the class next year.
Computers, modern tire compounds, turbos, and more have made some forget how difficult this all really is.
    He’s doing great!

The ignition system is wacky. Still playing with it. But I'm getting used to driving the car.

He is still breaking it in. It takes some guys months to be able to drive their builds around town without something breaking. Jim is doing this by beating the he'll out of it on the strip, then driving it around the country. And it still running 11's. You can't do better than that!

Action shot of squirrel behind the wheel!!!!
    GO MAN GO!!

9 months from concept to running 11’s

Shit took me that long to get my car on stands and the wheels off!!!

You’ll get it figured out, still doing better then 99% of ‘em.
As has been stated easy to go fast with turbos and computers compensating for mechanical abilities.

  10. To run low 11’s on a fresh, untested build is impressive. Once that thing gets dialed in it will be an animal! And doing it with no modern technology as well!

Racer-x made it to Drag Week, saw him run on the you tube feed. Good Luck and Be Safe, Carp. Missed a ton of posts before this, sorry guys. Got caught up and saw the Funny Fish making it down the track. Congratulations, Jim! Awesome Job!

Someone there must have a spare distributor or mag you could borrow for a pass or two to prove or eliminate that part.

I don't have a good enough ignition system, that's something that didn't get enough effort put into it. I'll probably play with what I have for now, although if someone has something kind of old that works, and wants to bring it over, I could give it a try.

The weather Wednesday is likely to be a bit rough, not sure if we'll run or not. Lots of stuff going on...

I have repro stock wires, been having a few issues with them too. Tach is flaky, not sure if it's due to the ignition being flaky, or what.

Anyways, I'm not too worried about it, I'll continue to try to make it work, in between dodging the normal storms and the hurricane, and the other folks trying to dodge the hurricane. And Brian is off getting his truck, in Atlanta, but he gets to tell that story. So Dan and I get to find another guy to ride with. Might be Joel, hopefully.

A bad tach can mess up your ignition system if the tach is getting its impulses from the coil.

Brian's stuff is all electronic, not sure if we could get it working in mine on time. I think his distributor does not have advance, I know his mag does not. But now that you mention it, he might have a tach.
