Well it is a week away...out with the Adobe Roadster on a shake down this morning. We are leaving Monday taking the slow bus. Three days to do 450 miles, those hills are steep in Colorado and makes a workout for the old two stroke.
Getting excited as we get to see all my friends

Looking forward to your progress posts as you head to Central City. The weather forecast looks outstanding so far. This will be another great event!

I would appreciate some advise on motel selection. Where to stay, and what to avoid. My brother and I do not require top of the line accommodations, but we do like a reasonably priced, clean, safe, place to stay for Friday and Saturday night.

I've not spent a night in a Motel there, I have to take the house for the dog so we stay at the KOA.
I did stay at the B&B, Miners Pick one year, great breakfast but too soft a bed for my taste

John, as already mentioned, take a look at the "lodging" link on the HRC website. Lodging in Central City/Black Hawk is pricy and probably booked up. Idaho Springs is not far and has pretty good selection of motels/hotels and good food/bar selection. Lots of places to stay in west Denver area if you don't mind a beautiful drive up Clear Creek canyon to Central City. Also, the reliability run on Friday starts on I 70 just before you head up into the mountains. So, West Denver area (Golden & Lakewood) could be a good option for you if you plan on doing the reliability run.

I looked at a motel just south of Denver at Castle Rock for Thursday night. We could stay there and it looks like an hour or so drive to the start of the reliability run.

I am still sorting out an issue with our vehicle.

    thanks
    John

  11. 1st time attending, really looking forward to it. Unfortunately not bringing the '29, just going to do the spectator thing!

I doubt that you are going to find anything close. We are going to stay in Golden, about 45 miles out.

There are a lot of hotels and casinos at Blackhawk and Central City where the hill climb is happening. Also a lot of motels along I70 on the way up the mountain only 35 miles away.

Is that the same Rody that was in the East Denver Boys over 30 years ago @winduptoy?!

I am excited to see how it goes. I am driving it up there via Estes Park. Returning with the group that way for brunch on Sunday.

Yes he is, working every day. Let us park overnight at his place. He has stories....and stripes left in him.

It is something we wouldn't miss. Wind up in Estes Park for brunch...I think Binger is going and headed out from there.
The fall colors are turned on here so it ought to be a great drive for scenery. 'Mike takes it slow....
