    hi
i don't know why but my clutch won't disengage. If i rotate the clutch shaft to the max it just touches the 3 bolt for disengagement
i have French flathead and a 39 tranny with a new release bearing.
    can anybody tell what's wrong?
is the french pressure plate incompatible?
pictures show the clutch shaft in released position.
    thanks Jan

I went nuts for over a year with a similar problem. Turned out to be a transmission was from a 6cyl flathead. The case is different. To check, look for a 1/4 hole in the bottom of the case. For a V8 case, this hole allows you to insert a long drift to drive out the pin in the throwout bearing fork. If that hole isn't in the bottom of the case, it's a 6cyl. trans

  4. Does the French pressure plate look like a Ford 3 arm stock plate?
I think it might be the pressure plate is not compatible with the Ford disc.

Well, you didn’t say what vehicle this is in.

How about a shot of the pedal and linkage setup you have?

Maybe a combination of the wrong linkage parts.

the clutch fingers are up against the candle stick, they aren't even close to the throw out bearing !
Looks like the pressure plate is wrong , the fingers are to long & to close to the center !

Pete makes a good point. Looking at the picture closer the fingers could be hitting on the inputshaft retainer.

Maybe the pressure plate is for a 1 1/16” input shaft and not the. 1 3/8” that the flathead uses.

If the clutch fork is in backwards this will occur.

Throw out bearing should just clear the three studs at rest.
