What's the purpose of the package tray on a 32 roadster? I have a Brookville body and it came with one. Other than welding it in place and using it to finish the edge to roll into the cockpit, I can't figure out what that horizontal ledge is for. Is that where the seat back mounts to?

I'll be going with a Bengels seat soon so I don't think I'll need this. What do you guys do with this?

    Thanks

  2. Toss em in the scrap bin
    Your legs will thank you

  3. It does help stiffen the body
We reinforced the body underneath/ behind where that panel welded

Coupe has a "package tray", never heard of a roadster using one, where would it go?

  5. That’s what I was thinking too
I looked it up and it’s listed that way but it’s not near as wide as a coupe
Looks like something to mount the seat
Must be why we never used it

Me too. I was wondering why they sent one with the body.

Yes. It looks like you could weld that in and smooth the lip over into the cockpit, then slice off that horizontal ledge...if I were to use it.

Basically it supports the original seat back wood frame.
