thanks guys! It might look like I did this quick, but there was a lot of time spent thinking about how to do things, over the past two years.

And I still dont know if it'll go more than a few feet :)

But I did get the windshield wiper working this morning.

I thought Jim had this pristine shop but did anybody notice that pile of stuff when he pulled the Cuda back inside! Must have been in a rush to fire that beast up and hadn't cleaned yet...:D

  10. Going into Drag Week well rested still makes for a very long week. I can't imagine how long your week will feel for you. I'm tired just thinking about it....

  15. Jim, Can you tell what the converter feels like? Did you check the gears on jackstands, off camera?

I took it for a short drive, almost a mile, low speeds...not sure yet how it feels, there are some issues with the engine, like, not running right at slightly higher rpm...I haven't really had it spinning fast enough to feel it engage the converter fully.

also it wasn't charging, so we're wiring up the voltage regulator properly, and I changed out the condenser to see if it runs better (I don't have the right one for the distributor, so I added an external .22 uf)

also the dipstick for the trans is iffy, and I haven't checked the fluid level properly, I think it's a bit low still.

I'll be curious how dialed in you can get it riding and handling wise. Lots of highway miles to cover I believe, not to mention the strip.

  19. Well it's not a "Fish Out Of Water" anymore, is it. All the moldings, nameplates and fender emblems really put this project over the top.

    thanks!

Yes, it's going to be a fun drive...

been tinkering with the ignition system, it's still not running right. Time to jump in the time machine, and think back to all the things that went wrong in the old days.

we have so far swapped out coil, condenser, ballast, and played a little with the point gap. The points might be crappy, they are new. It seems to cut out a bit over 2000 rpm, the timing light goes all over the place, tach jumps around, and it runs really rough. It sure sounds like an ignition problem.

It´s great to see that car moving under itsown power.
What an accomplishment. When I ( ever) grow up, I wanna be like you, hahaha, but that ´ll still take a couple years. You´ve got the skills, the creativity and the motivation it takes to do what you love on a non NASA budget, even if that´s somewhat exhausting. My hat and all my respect is off to you!

Have you tried running it on one set of points?

You should hang that little tailpipe back on it.

With a wheelie wheel bolted through it.

I fixed the ignition problem. just defective new parts, they installed the contact strap, but not the spring strap. that was fun.,. I found the old points in the garbage can, filed them, put them in, and it runs great.

How do they miss putting the spring strap into a new set of points?

Stunning execution, and incredible speed at which you built this car! Best of luck during Drag Week!

Those look like the exact same points that I changed in my little Massey tractor . Same problem so I filed and put the old ones back. lol I got mine at the NAPA I work at on Sundays. You would not believe how may different applications those fit over the years. And yes they are made over seas. Larry

little video. We're working on the wheelie bars, and the fan shroud, and the hood, right now.
