A little known fact regarding the Zephyr. In 1939 Edsel Ford and Ferdinand Porche collaborated on a design to make the Zephyr a rear engine rear drive car. That is the reason for the extended trunk area.

When The Ford Museum had their big sale in 1986 a friend of mine was the largest purchaser of items from that sale. He spent over 1 million dollars and several 18 wheels trailer loads. Amongst the loot were all the castings molds and pieces to complete a rear engine V12 Zephyr with the plans and blue print drawings. The project was dropped after Germany invaded Poland.

Other interesting things he purchased were Edsel's 'children's midget v8-60 race car. My friend loaned it back to the museum for the 100th anniversary of Ford.He also purchase one of the 8 cylinder "X" engines proto typed for the model t. His biggest purchase was the Austro Daimler limousine built for Kaiser Wilhelm who was assonated before he took delivery. There were hundreds of interesting artifacts sold at that sale and sadly much of it has been dispersed with no record.

    just sayin'

Deuces I didn't want to answer here as it really is non car but can't PM you as your privacy setting won't allow PM's. The name is just a co-incidence and a play on words I guess.
Here is a link and go down to History. Thanks

    1. Back around late 1990's/2000 I was at the Chilli Bowl, huge indoor Midget race,Tulsa Ok. great event if you are a race fan. They have a Trade show/Auction and a brand new never run after WW2, 40's KK Midget with an all aluminum V8-60, advertised as Henry Fords property came up, I stopped bidding at 5K, believe it went for around 10K, all the way home I was rethinking my decision of cheaping out. Thinking same car ? How many could there be ?

Not quite correct. Both different entities, but same owner. Woolworths is groceries, and Big W is a department store.
