AWESOME build you have there! Few things make me smile as much as a dually powered by the 300-6. Can't wait to see the finished truck.
Great Build and glad to see you are back at it. I love the 300 / NP435 combo, and those air cleaners are perfect for the style of truck. I ran a NP435 behind the 351W in my '51 1/2 ton for years until I decided I needed Overdrive. Great trans though, absolutely bullet proof. Keep up the good work.
thought about time for an update.... finished steering; used the factory steering wheel, top foot of column, bracket under dash. (and acouple non HAMB friendly parts to connect to the steering box) used a newer style Saginaw pump with and old reservoir I had. pic of exhaust I stuck together... still have lots on my to do lists...
decided to go with a hydraulic clutch system.... i'm not happy with the travel of the clutch pedal. it too short, but works..... might have to bore out master cylinder to a larger size... after a few test drives up and down the alley, had to do alittle "testing" of the 3 x 1 barrel setup;
orking on a "headache rack" plan to paint brown like the model AA flatbed frame. using flat stock and re-bar, along with square nuts to anchor to wood... am trying to make like it couldn't been done in 60's (problem is all 50/60's racks I see are just wooden slats. really need to finish the wiring etc...... and quit welding shit.......(just not as fun)
been driving alittle, working out the squeaks..... finished headache rack, next on the list if an old winch..
wanna be driving this summer so got to get busy....... acouple interior pics to get thread back going and motivate me to work on it....
51 and 52 are my favorite as far as the ford pickups go.. This thing is coming along great! Is the seat and door panels made from the same single carpet?
the tank and skid plate/mount came from an 89 jeep wrangler with a 4 cylinder (fyi, 6 cylinder tanks are bigger, also later model 4 cylinders used the larger tank too). I welded fill tube from original tank from behind seat
Glad you did. This one is awesome as well. I always wondered the story of your truck. Here it is! Rules !!
I'm not seeing the pics of the interior but I see the compliments on it. Any handy to add in? (Or current overall shots?) Really like it. I have a '51 gmc tonner. Posted by the twenty lb Rooster app!
not sure what happened to some of the pictures. Interior is pretty polarizing, either like or don't. last two are most current pics...
Thanks f3. Looks nice and tidy- I think my Dad had that as a tie. Did you modify a seat for that armrest center or use another? Especially like the 2 tone dash. Posted by the twenty lb Rooster app!
Love this truck. Not trying to be picky, have you thought about the cab lights over the wind shield. Not saying you need them, Just trying to picture what it would look like. I don't know why I thought of it.
Update to an old thread...posted this picture on my 29 thread, the F-3 did a pretty good job towing. I did have to use a truck lane up a steep hill and downshift. New plan is to mount and old welder, air compressor, cutting torch etc… on the flatbed.
picked up this "Lincoln WeldanPower 130" off Craigslist acouple weeks also, I think it's about a 1972 model. I was able to test both the AC welder and 115 VAC outlets, work great. Been cleaning up and painting all week...
Still waiting for new decals to be delivered, install fuel line and figure out how and where to mount. View attachment 4020042
I've seriously consider putting a Marmon Herrington or NAPCO badge on for years... next I'm going to get set up my cutting torch.
switched out tool box and added torch bottles and a green cooler. Getting closer to permanent locations [/ATTACH] View attachment 4027217
Made some brackets to secure the torch cylinders this afternoon (looking for some rubber or foam to glue on inside surface that contacts cylinders), I think everything is in it's final location. I'm still not sure if I want to mount a vise or not...
Updating my old truck thread; redid an old Warn winch, split factory bumper and modified mount... ***Currently looking for the factory "cable operated" controls for this winch if anyone has a lead.
