Technical Found this 426 Hemi block ?

It's pretty much a gonner - but is it a factory block that's just been smoothed over a bunch ? Couldn't find any of the factory date code - time of foundry cast or any thing else - even the pad on top is clean...is it maybe an after market ? The two head bolts along the left side are gone and if you look at the right side between the water jackets it looks like it fell and broke the cast. Really thin along that side....what do ya think ? This was found at and old machine shop sale...

I picked up a pair early Hemi heads that ran fuel back in the day. Extra large valve seats. they are pretty well done. I just like walking by them and knowing where they've been

 

Try to find the missing bearing cap, anyhow.

 

It'll make a pretty nice whiskey bottle holder....eight big bottles

 

Too big for a paperweight, and not really practical for an anchor. But, if you need a dumby block for a setup, you're all set! What are the aluminum plates for on the sides of the block for? I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

To hold the block together when they run it with 90%

 

Thanks guys for the input ! Funny it doesn't have ANY markings....like most of my MOPAR blocks....guess that was shaved for a tenth or so....main caps will go to some one that needs them...bout all I could see that might help someone else.

Keeping my mouth shut and my eyes open.

 

Well, at least you can say. Ya I got a Hemi.

 

If it's really cheap I would get it. Just for a curiosity, and so you could use it as a reference when you wondered about how wide a Hemi block is, how much it weighed, what size threads to attach the hoo-hoo, etc. etc.

 

Am ready to scrap it - took the caps off and the side aluminum piece on the right - that's where the vin # of the car it went in would be....but no numbers there either. It looks like the rod or rods had widowed the block - that would be the reason for the plates. Don't want any money for it - maybe just my time to put it on a pallet - $25 ? It's at zip 75208....

 

Find some junk heads and stuff and make a coffee table.

 

It's gone to a new home.....
