Supposedly, there was a swap meet going on somewhere, but this 1947 Crosley was the only thing I found that looked like a swap meet item.

  3. I've never heard of a swap meet as part of Speedweek, and hope it never comes down to that.

From what I am seeing the DB roadster is '24 to '27. The rear wheels are '22 only, very hard to find. Thanks for posting all the pictures. They make any car look good.

I think I heard it was at one of the camp grounds, definitely not inside the speedway. I agree that the event itself is no place for a swap meet.

I'm glad that wasn't yours. I feel bad for whoever did own it.
    Thanks.

Aluminum head. Same guy. Different car. The 788 car above, Rick Yacoucci. Hard on chains and hard on Chevy small blocks. But he has a lot of records. This was at 398 MPH with a 258 cid SBC on gas

  13. Dan, your outstanding work is killer again, thanks for that. while watching your pics i can imagine smelling the salt, the heat and hot engine oil, thanks again!

    Cheers, Carsten

I like it! Short stroke with 4" bore? LOTS of rpm? Blower/turbo with the O rings?

Turbo. 258 cubic inch. Very short stroke. 2 9/16. Not many cars ever have gone 398 mph. Rick did and on gas. Lots of RPM.

  20. It was a great father/son trip Dan. 17 days on the road and over 5400 miles. Maybe I’ll do a thread on the trip on the H.A.M.B. sometime in the future.

Loyd McFaddin Gray C/GALT - not sure if this one actually ran successfully.

  24. Dan, Was great that you made it to this years speed week at long last. I really like the shot of my deuce hanging out in the parking lot of the nugget. This was it's 3rd year of making the trip out to speed week. This was the first time I did not take it out on the salt due to working full time on the 5521 race car. Lot's of work, but was so much fun. This was my 8th year of going and it never gets old. The 5521 car spun out at 203 on Sunday and ended our runs for this year.....Salt conditions were outstanding.
Thank's for taking the time to post all the great photos. Will see ya at the Hill Climb.

They damaged a clutch and if I understood correctly were not able to get the replacement parts in time to make any further runs.
See you at the Hill Climb.

Dan, you really did a great job on the photos. Made me wanting...
I was there for the first time last year and the salt was not good for records. We discussed going again this year but circumstances said no. Hopefully next year.

Thanks Dennis (@383deuce ) and thanks for the background story on what you were up to. I know I saw your car more than I saw you. See you at HRHC for sure. Thanks Wayne (@wayne-o) for the story on the Loyd McFaddin Gray car. Looking froward to seeing you at the Hill Climb as well. You're welcome and thanks @FOURTYDLX.
Thank you @ScooterCO. I have no frame of reference, since it was my first time, but I heard quite a few people say the salt was excellent - "best in 10 years" from one guy, etc. I know I had a blast driving around on it in both my car and in a couple of friends cars.
