  7. This is a cool car, but it needs a paint job. Doors are suicide too, not sure I like that. Built by Westbury Customs Concord CA.

Anybody have more pictures of this ride? Very interested in the three window treatment. What was used, how it was done, maybe a few more side shots. It's cool.

This I couldn't disagree with more... the stock roof line on a long door coupe it absolutely hideous!! The thing that makes or breaks a chop is the quarter window. But yet again that's personal preference.

Looks great! No drip rails is the only way on these coupes. They never flow with the roof line and quarter window. Just distracting from the flow.

  15. I saw the car being built, but never saw it finished. It was converted to a 3 window using the stock top. Any patch panels or donor panels were made on an english wheel. Now this was 17 years ago at Concord Safety Center, in Concord CA. It hadn't progressed much past a bare metal top when I saw it last, so, that's my memory of it. Greg Westbury built it. He builds some pretty slick custom Motorcycles now. He did a biker build off too when that stuff was on TV.

  16. There's a video of it on YouTube, just search 1946 Ford 3 window coupe, and plenty of pictures of it if you do a google search for the same thing.

    Thanks for the info.

  18. Yep, guess we would never agree on this. I think the stock top on 1939 through 1948 Ford coupes are perfect.

My 48 Most of these 46-48's need to have their Hood Hinges rebuilt , so the Mldgs. lineup , the hinges revolve on rivets and the holes for those rivets have become oblonged , I disassembled mine and rounded the rivet holes then used new rivets , heated the rivets red hot and holding with tongs whacked them on an anvil to fatten the new rivets to fit properly in the enlarged holes , reassembled for proper alignment

I love the 39-40 roof line stock. 41-48? Not so much. The hump over the rear is just bad.

Ewwwww @flatout51 what’s next building 30’s cars with no fenders?! ;)

One vote for chopped with drip rails- though reworked to flow better

I just bought a new pair of hinges from Mac's, don't have them on yet! Every time I get out of the car I automatically go to the corner of the hood and "push down" on it.

I think unless you pancake the roof taking the drip rails off really makes them look fat on top. The drip rail kinda breaks up the space visually. Also the quarter window is so critical as you said, because with no drip rail there’s nothing over it to bridge to the top of the door

I think every one does this except guys to who remove the springs all together lol.
Never thought about the holes slotting

I tried a set of repo hinges on my 48 before I decided to rebuild mine , the repo's I have are from Drake's and are very flimsy I gave up on those , but I did use the springs that came with them.
