I know that a lot of the folks in the social forums are scattered geographically, so this probably only applies to those in a particular area. A small group of Maryland Social Group HAMBers makes an effort to get together for lunch once a month and we attempt to agree on a different location for the next month. In essence we just try to keep it interesting. A very informal affair. If your local group gets together, even occasionally, post up some pics here for all to enjoy. Try to keep it HAMB friendly as much as possible with the cars so we don't get shut down. This past Thursday a few of us met for lunch at Hella's Restaurant in Millersville, Maryland.........Thanks, Don.
None of you folks get together for lunch and bench racing sessions? Show us some pics, even if it's in someone's garage/shop and not at a local restaurant. Bologna sandwiches are OK!
We have a group that meets for brunch on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at a place called Gene Poe's in Jarrettsville, MD... usually anywhere from 20-30 cars (weather depending). I will try to remember to get pics next time. Chappy
There was a "Hamb & Scrapple" Solcial Forum Group that would meet for breakfast throughout the winter months in the Allentown PA area. It must have fizzled out, because I haven't seen anything posted for a long time. "Scrapple", for those who don't know, is some kind of Pennsylvania Dutch junk meat. I don't know what's in it, and wouldn't want to, but it tastes pretty good and I'm sure it's not health food.
...............I love Scrapple. I usually order it over sausage or bacon, none of which can be considered "health food" for sure. Not sure of all the ingredients either, but I know they taste good together.
I did a little trade out with the Peterson Museum awhile back, and I invited our social group on here to a private visit to the vault. We usually get together after the Los Angeles Roadster Show for some adult beverages and conversation, too ...
The HAMB and Scrapple was good fun, went a few times. I believe Jerry (Home made hardtop) did all the organizing. I suspect there was not a lot of assistance from others, I believe. Gets old doing it all by yourself. I certainly appreciated all his efforts, but at that time, I was up to my eye balls in work and would not have had much time to devote to the organizing. Better to not offer help at all, than to offer and not come through.
Dammit, now I'm heading to the freezer to pull out a tin of scrapple. It's color is grey, as in grey matter. Cook it quick or it'll fall apart on ya. 3-4 slabs of scrapple, a mess o' grits heavy on the butter, fritters and a pair of over easy eggs.. good stuff!
You haven't lived until you savor a scrapple and egg sandwich with cheese and a little mayo. ............Yum.
Sorry, Scott, maybe you can take a Thursday off sometime. Everyone deserves an extra day off now and then.
