Sexiest ever were one of a kind. (Isn't that what customizing is all about?)
Watson color-coated/customized about a million caps.

IMO, wires suit your car much better.

I bought that set of four in very nice condition for $75 on eBay, but that was about 8 years ago, and they've become much more popular since then. If I had to choose some reasonably priced caps for a '55 now, I'd look at '52 Fords (post #97, upper right) or plain aftermarket Moons (chrome, not aluminum) like I have on my shoebox currently:

Those may be the most perfect looking marriage of caps and car I ever saw and this image is always etched in my brain when someone mentions looking for the perfect cap.
Thats a nice lookin car if it didnt even have caps but those were the perfect choice to make that car complete ;)

  14. I don't know about "sexiest ever" but I thought I would share mine. These are Cal Custom "Ripple" caps, with a bullet center, the spokes are modified drawer pulls from Menards. The caps are spindle mounted so they "float". Finished them off with a fake valve stem to really make people scratch their heads.

Also painted the outer edge of the wheel white

Here’s something a little different for you. These are ‘57 Ford caps on my Wife’s ‘54 Customline. A very close friend of ours gave them to her when she picked the car up years ago. The car has undergone many changes over the years but the caps have stayed. I think they have a nice custom look to them with the factory bullet in the centers and the “roulette wheel” outers but they are stock my wife just repainted the factory white areas and gave them a good polishing. You can’t beat the way they throw light around when you’re going down the road either! 942B6F8C-25EA-406A-B510-826C1418A22A.jpeg

  18. Top row, second from right.... '50s Corvette full covers. I remember these as being popular (after the 'Vette guys who usually had money bought chrome wheels) on more than a few mild customs. Haven't seen a set in years....

I'd have to go with the 55 Studebaker caps with the 3 bar spinners. or 55/56 Olds Caps 44974687_2490595710952312_987365560616484864_o (2).jpg 10610586_846361292042437_926444694853348445_n.jpg 1501442_729783420366892_470709264_o.jpg

  22. You put a small chrome bullet in the center of that cap and it looks so bitchin'. I've done it. A favorite of Gene Winfield's.

Here are some of my caps but these as 14 inch. They are for my 57 Chevy . The Lancers with the extra bars are made from drawer pulls. The Chevy center emblems replaced the knights head. The 57 Chevy spinner is mounted to the spindle so it is stationary. The caps are Comet. The 57 Chrysler Windsor caps have aftermarket spinners. I also have a set of Lancers with the 4 bars. Those are all ingenious. I like the Chrysler/aftermarket knockoff the best.

My '41 Chevy needs these!! Can anyone tell me what these are off of or where I can find them? They just might be the best looking caps I've ever seen!

Those are '56 Olds optional wheel covers, generally called Fiestas (although Olds called them Starfires). They've been popular since they were brand new; used ones sell for about $150 apiece currently. Google '56 Olds Fiestas and you'll find a bunch of references.

  30. Back in the day, I thought 4 bars were kool... 6th car - 1955 Buick Special.jpg
Today, I have '55 Oldsmobile wheel covers... 2.jpg
    But I wouldn't mind a set of '57 Lincolns....
