Hello Everyone, I just returned home from being in Reno since last Tuesday & the Hot August Nights Show was amazing! It had been on my bucket list for years, so when a gentleman who owns an OT vehicle that had been invited to participate in the prestigious Hot August Nights Cup competition against 39 others inside the Reno Ballroom contracted me to transport his vehicle out & back, I jumped at the chance. His car won overall Best of Show @ Detroit this year & in 2016 won GMs Best of Design @ SEMA. As a transporter, this is another feather in my cap to be trusted transporting something this special back & forth. There was no less than 6 outside "Show & Shines" going on at different casinos every day. Each one had between 400 & 1000 cars, so lots of walking & gauking! I managed to get to 4 of them. The downtown Reno one was closest to my hotel, so I went to that one every day. The night time cruises under the arch were also great. I took a bunch of pictures & will post a few that fit in as traditional & plan on taking one of my cars out for a future show. I had an absolute blast! I recommend this show to any of my fellow car guys!!!!! One of my favorites was the 57 Pontiac, as I have one here I am wanting to do a full restoration on! God Bless Bill Squires(owner) Bill's Auto Works
Thanks for pics - surprised that they have not been other threads on Reno, and the other surrounding towns shows
Hey B, Nice photos of those cars that stream in from all over the USA for this event. We have been trying to get back there for years, but time passes us by each time. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...r-photographers.1054623/page-47#post-12658284 Back then, after walking around watching the event being set up, we had to be on our way South, as this stop was for a driving rest spot. But, for the longest time since walking around that Arch, I wanted to take a night time shot of the Reno Arch with cool hot rods showing either headlights or taillights, coming or going through the arch. The best place for that photo would have been on the upper floors, out of the multiple story parking garage just South, facing the famous, Reno Arch. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/artsy-car-pics-lets-see-em.380363/page-30 Similar to this old time exposure, night shot: 3 sec exposure So, my question to you is: were you able to get a night, time exposure, photo shot of the Arch and the hot rods cruising underneath it? Jnaki If not, nice photos anyway and at least you were there. Maybe another trip up north for us next summer? Who knows... it would have been a nice, long, nostalgia drive for us.
JNAKI, Here is the one picture that closely fits to what you were talking about. My pics were taken with an old Motorola Android phone, so nothing fancy! While I was at it, I know there is a contingent here that likes COEs, Divco types & other trucks so I added a few of those
