Boy, you just don't see them like that anymore. The occasional custom 'vette
was good for the car scene.

I don't know what to make of this. All I can say is that someone had a vision. Is this any worse
than Mark Hamill's Stingray in "Corvette Summer"?

By the way, my "like" up there is for the photo, not necessarily the "Rivette".

Cool pic Jason. I hope to see Jeff run that car in the future. As cool as they come IMO.

Looked through the Hamb drags thread by Sancho and saw Jeff's 62 with a single four barrel and a different hood with a cool hood scoop. He told me at the Meltdown he was trying to dial in the injection but maybe he decided to change intakes and make some passes with the four barrel. Hopefully he will chime in or someone that attended may know. 20180818_124931.jpg

The last picture with the spectators on the bank was taken at Phenix City, Alabama probably in the late sixties or early seventies. I remember the '57 well, it was out of Florida but don't recognize the Corvette

Pat not sure of the exact rootbeer shade of brown on Jeff's car but I repainted my 74 Vette a similar color back in the 70s. May be close to the original shade of my 74 but that is a guess. I went with my 74 brown and went a shade darker with a little more fleck. One of these days I hope to do a candy root beer. Some people like brown and others seem to hate it-I like it myself.

I like his scoop. On my avatar car I have a big block with a holley and it is right up against the hood so I had to put a hole in the hood and the air cleaner sticks out. I considered a scoop similar to what Jeff has on the car. It is tough to decide what scoop to use on an early Vette but his looks good IMO.

Jim my personal favorite was my own. These where made by Custom Enterprises for Motion performance but not for C1's we knew the guys back then and a friend of mine had one made for his corvette. When I did my 62 I had them make one for me (just the scoop). It's a 67 427 scoop on top of a 68 L88 bulge. On my car I removed the long bulges to give it a cleaner look. I think it looks like it belongs, resto's think I ruined the hood.

Pat your car and the hood looked pretty darn good. The trouble with me is that I cannot pin myself down as to which scoop looked the best. I have a few 58-62 hoods with scoops and used none of them. I had 2- 67 427 scoops (have one left -used the other for the framework under the skin for another hood that was damaged). I have a Ford stinger style, and an L 88. When it came time to put a scoop on my avatar car I could not figure out what to do so I went with none. I was leaning towards the scoop on Wildabeast (that may be because I am a Wildabeast nut). Jeff's is somewhat close to Wildabeast so of course I approve.

As to my avatar car, when I had the car down at Autorama in 2013 the Ramchargers had a display close by and a very nice lady with the Ramchargers told me that someone had taken a picture of my car from a display hovering above my car after hours. . I asked her if she would get me a copy and she did. Kind of a cool picture IMO.

Midwest-3-sml.jpg LB the Midwest 57 you pictured in 3355 was Pontiac powered at the time and ran in BM/SP. He ran both 389 and 421 Pontiacs in the car built by George DeLorean, although at the time of this pic I believe it had a 421. This was probably in 64 and in 65 they switched to a 427 BBC and painted the car black.
