I've got to agree with Squablow on this. That's a beautiful car and it is a change to see a top quality T build with all the A's and 32's out there. Then there is the bonus of that Nailhead engine. Any details on the build and what color is that as it is something different? Congrats on a great car, just get out there and enjoy it.

I agree. We've got 39 pages of this stuff. At the risk of offending someone who has posted his/her ride earlier I'll say that this might be the best of the best.

  4. Replace the Olds Fiesta's with small acorns, or Ford caps, and I could agree with you.

Thanks so much for the compliment! I am humbled by your words and appreciate you taking the time to say so!

I started building it in 97-ish (when I was 23). At first, I gathered parts and rented a storage unit to put em in... then later rented a house with a car port to build it. With a couple great guys helping, I drove it for the first time in April of 99... sportin a gloss black chassis and flat black body... I tried for a 58-59-ish time period. In that configuration it consisted of a bunch of swapmeet, scrounged & fabbed parts...
-26 Ford body, widened at the cowl 3.5" to fit the frame, filled lower firewall
-chopped windshield posts about 9" with channels for glass, no windshield frame
-gennie 32 Ford frame with stock K member, C'd in back
-gennie Model A front & rear crossmembers
-gennie dropped Ford front axle, F1 brakes, 46-ish Ford steering box, 35 Ford banjo wheel
-39 Ford rear, 3:78 gears, Model A spring
    -33 Ford torque tube, shortened
-39 Ford top loader, with Offy adapter
-55 Buick 322, Offy intake, three 97s, homemade lakes headers
-Ansen style swing pedals & Chevy truck master & slave
-Deitz 7" headlights, 50 Poncho tails

And we went everywhere together! Work, grocery shopping, hang outs, cruising, you name it

In 2004, a U joint went south on me and I figured a T5 would help the engine, so I tore into it. Again, with help from some great friends.
    -88 S10 T-5 with .72 OD
-Hot Rod Works open drive conversion, fabbed torque arm and crossmember, modified K member
-56 Buick stick bellhousing, machined and welded to work with the T5, redrilled flywheel, S10 clutch

In 2016, it was way overdue for paint.
-Atlas Chrome in Houston got a bunch of my money
-headlight bar was a $5 junkyard unknown brand that I cut up to work, 28-29 Model A headlights
-50 Poncho taillight bezels with 58 Chevy lenses
-Ron Gusman of Houston shot the 28 Ford Dutchess Blue, Rogelio Martinez laid all the fine lines
And on & on. Sorry to be so longwinded. I left out sooooo very much but one thing I gotta add...

At the inaugural Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green, KY back in 2003, my good friend Larry McClendon asked me to tow his scratch built flathead powered dragster up to the line when he had to race, with my roadster. He ended up goin to the final that year and it will forever be a pretty big deal to me. I know it's nothing to so many of the guys on here that make amazing things and are used to doin that kinda stuff... But to me, that was badass!

Thanks for reading my ramblings fellas!

That is mighty high praise, sir! There are many very fine rides in this thread and even the idea that someone happens to like mine as much as others, is very much appreciated indeed! Thank you for taking the time to post.

Thank you Mr. Lowe! I know your truck well and studied the details of it many times.

I tossed around the idea of doing caps and rings over the years. In the end, the more I looked at roadsters in car shows during the late 50's, the more I liked the full wheel covers... if nothing else, to be a little bit different than the majority of the other rods running around that didn't have them... And I like how flippers look spinning around.

  12. There are a lot of T’s in this thread that I would love to have but @nailheadroadster, yours is at the top of my list. I’ll be starting a 23-ish project soon. Fiberglass cuz that’s what fell into my hands, with turtledeck. I know yours is a 26 and slightly sleeker. Hope mine will look at least half as nice.

  18. @Blue One those pics don’t do your paint justice. Washington Blue varies so much based on the lighting - makes it look almost black. You have a beautiful car!

  19. Your "junk" is going to be a damn fine RPU! And I know a little about RPU's.;)

I just went through all 39 pages. I got a lot of red x's so apologize if these are duplicates. Don't know any details, I just like them.

    I can't remember if I posted a picture of my buddies 27.
It's been on the road for a lot of years now and he's constantly improving it.
I rode in it many times and was inspired to build my own.

  30. I don't really care for the proportions on that one... No offense.
