My Plymouth is finally in primer and it was the first car that I painted my arm is sore but the car looks great! Now more sanding then onto color!


In the booth last night kind of an inside joke the tow monkey was guarding my car. Long story....



Two coats of high build primer applied one sore shoulder doing it myself priceless! This has been a great fun build and know the finish line is near.

 

Looks great ,looking forward to seeing it at the nationals.

Hey Jim, The car is lookin great. I don't post much but I have been following along since the start. I stop by your truck at the Nationals to meet you but you must be walking around. Maybe this year.

I have been making steady progress on the body it’s looking good and getting closer to being ready for color. However it will not be ready for the nationals. I believe that you should take your best to the nationals so I will be proud to drive my 56 Dodge truck! Hope to see everyone there! Hobo Jim

 

Been watching the weather for Syracuse. In the mean time getting the Plymouth ready for hickories in Owego sunday

Hey for those of you following my build today was a very exciting day I have purchased the paint! I got paid from a side job at the sheet metal shop so I will be shooting color very soon stay tuned for some real updates! I also have been fabricating some floor mats in my style that I really like, I just haven’t taken any pics but I will have them done soon. Hobo Jim

 

Here is a pic of the insperation for my floor mats and the first stages of my interpretation the floor dimmer switch will be centered in the hole.

OK I couldn’t take waiting for my buddies booth to open up I opened the green paint and the color looks amazing! I had already taped the front end to paint the cream under the hood so I decidedly to shoot that tonight. Man is it ever exciting to see final color on the exterior of the car! I am impatiently waiting for the hardener to come in it’s on back order from PPG here are some pics

 

Thanks to @olds vroom for the amazing tip of the white flex seal for wide whites I now have low budget wide whites!



I also finished the floor mats I really like the look they are made out of aluminum with two inch dimple dies and a black leather heal pad.



I received good news the activator that is on backorder is coming in this week! I will be shooting color soon!

 

Looks like everything is coming together. Someone is going to have to clue me in on the wide white flex seal trick. Wonder if you can make 2 inch wide white walls

I am painting the weekend 25th and the 26th so please stay tuned for some updates! I have to change the front coil springs due to tire rub.

 

Try prepping with break parts cleaner then put a fine wire wheel on a drill to scuff the tire just enough to scuff it that’s all I’ve done and have over 1500 miles on them this year so far.

The cream is done! Came out Great I will be painting the green tomorrow. After all the work it is really nice to see the final color going on the car. This is the first car that I’ve painted it is really satisfying doing all the work on this car myself. Here are some pics of the cream.

After three hours of taping it finally has color!

I am not sure if I’m keeping the red wheels I have to see them with the green although I love red wheels they may not work on this car, tomorrow will tell. I am really looking forward to seeing the green and I can’t wait to spray it!

 

I would paint the wheels cream , are you putting any moon caps on them?

I was thinking cream and I have paint left over. No I am going with the Cal Custom spider caps and open end chrome lug nuts.
