That's John, with Ed the Ace wearing a Jack Coonrod T-shirt. John had 2 different Fuller Junior Fuelers, Me and a buddy bought the car that followed this one.

  6. That's right Marty. KS drove for a short time before Cookie came on board. The engine belonged to John Edwards, probably the reason for the Enderle injector.

  7. Anyone got any details about the engine setup in this "Midnite Oil" car? Don't believe I've ever seen a shot of this dragster before. Purpose built dragster or converted from some other kind of racer?

This from Rooman, on a different picture of this car that was posted a few years ago: "Vic King of Temple City, Ca running a four cylinder Hispano Suiza aircraft motor. The car ran in the low 12's at the time and was campaigned until as late as 1977 although by then it had a Model B Ford block with a Gemsa overhead conversion." The "Hisso" engine was one bank of the V-8 Hispano-Suiza aircraft engine used in WWI, and became popular in the U.S., some used in sprint cars in the 1920-30s (I think). Ron Benham and Paul Aicher also used one in a car similar to Vic King's Midnight Oil, which has been restored. I don't know much about the origins of King's car, though the design is unusual to say the least.
