    Hello
    I own a 61 thunderbird convertible.
Recently, i have started to notice small bumps (a lot of them) on the tonneau cover.
What causes this and how can I make it stop?

Any non super zoomed in photos so we have a context for what we are looking at?

Also, what is this part made of?

It is impossible to see unless i get zoomed in on it.

The Tonneau cover is made of fiberglass.

Fiberglass. Moisture under the paint making its way out from under the paint it seems. Could have been ill prepared gel coat which seals the fiberglass to make it non porous but I'm betting on moisture. How long ago was the bird painted?

Could the heat in the garage be a factor in the bumps appearing?

I know I'm betting that it is moisture under the paint.

How do you stop moisture from getting under the paint?

  13. Short of striping the paint off, figuring out what is causing it to fail and repainting there is not much you can do. The only way moisture would get under it is if the paint has failed somewhere and water has been able to wick underneath. Without knowing what condition the panel was in before and what was done to it to prep it before paint it's just a guessing game at this point.

    Google search fibreglass micro blisters.

Was it stored off the car and upside down? I had an OT pickup bed cover that someone left outside, upside down, and filled with water. Turned it over and the paint was all blistered. The water found it's way through the fiberglass and blistered the paint.

  16. Try using a hypodermic needle on one of them and see if you can draw any moisture out. Saw a guy do this years ago.

Strip it down and repaint it. Nothing lasts forever.

Just looked this up and, wow, I learned a bunch. This seems to be exactly what the OP has going on.
