My 49 I bought for $600. I put mustang II under it and a 289 auto. Future family car. Leaving the body as is and just driving it. 20180118_163225.jpeg 20180531_130542.jpeg 20180531_125959.jpeg

In these pictures you can see the Nardi wheel, the tach at the bottom of the A pillar, and the A/C valance below the dash. The upholstery was by Sid Chavers, and was patterned after a 3.8 Mk II Jag but adapted to a bench seat. I used '49 dash knobs, just because I like their looks.

I first showed the car at Back to the 50s in St. Paul in the early '90s. The body work was done, but the dash was still stock. As I was parking the car, I heard two guys discussing it, and one of them said "It's a '51, see the dash?" I thought, "Shit, now I have to change that too."

  9. That interior is stunning yet it seems to fit the style without looking to modern. HRP

Thank you. My fictional story behind the car was, "What if Ford introduced the Victoria in 1950, and upgraded it to a Lincoln level of quality?" To that, I just shaved the door handles, filled some seams, and lowered it as if it was a '50s high school hot rod.

  12. I'm sure had the story been factual rather than fictional Ford would have built a lot more than 1,209,509 automobiles in 1950, you did a beautiful job. HRP

Yes. The shoebox and the '40 in my avatar are the only two toys I've kept, and I think they'll keep me entertained until I can't drive any longer. Those two were built with very few compromises, so neither has any bad habits to piss me off.

  19. Here is a delivery photo taken at Fred Sayre Motors in Ripley, WV with a load of new shoeboxes ready to be unloaded. I have the dealership sign from this pic in my garage.

  22. My 49 4 door I recently picked. 50k miles, original flathead 8, 3 speed no overdrive. I'm loving it! Just had to fix a gakked up master cylinder, all done and it's back on the road for daily use. 891A4E0B-BADD-4BCF-A08C-043C58A326D7.jpeg Here’s my 51 coupe. Was put in the second owners garage in 1967 after the original owner blew up the flat 6. He put a 283 in it in 1967 that had 6000 miles on it and had some issues with the transmission so it sat there for the next 50 years until I bought it last year. So far I put a 9 inch rear in it, disk brakes, rear 11 inch drums, 3” lowering leaf springs with a 1 “ block , Aerostar coils in front, new shocks, power brake booster and master cylinder and booster on firewall( doing that right now) all new brake lines, got sway bars front and back and new rad to go in yet pls a few engine mods..

Boy, can I relate to that thought. Love the Dodge grille, by the way.
