KMA Studios in Shenandoah, Iowa. I've hauled a lot of freight in and out of Shenandoah.

Twin Lakes, Iowa, not far from my wife's hometown.

We got married in Pomeroy over 30 years ago.

Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I've hauled a lot of stuff in and out of that town and I even was in on building a house there once.I call it the city of five smells.

Iowa State Fair 1938, I wonder if Dad and Grandpa watched this race? I know Grandpa built a trailer and they went up to the state fair and camped in it.

Not many old photos of Jantzen Beach with cars in them but they did have a race track there.

I went to Jantzen Beach about 1969 while in Jr High, I think it closed shortly after.

Jantzen Beach Amusement Park was a popular amusement park from 1928 to 1970 in Portland, Oregon, on Hayden Island in the middle of the Columbia River. "The Coney Island of the West" opened on May 26, 1928 as the largest amusement park in the nation, covering over 123 acres (50 ha) at the northern tip of Portland.

  19. Jantzen Beach was an institution for years, not old enough to have gone to races there!
Portland Speedway was great as well, it was a sad day when that closed!
Do they still have TQ midget races at Alpenrose?
Has it cooled off up there?

I never got to J.B. for the races, but did at Portland speedway, saw the last asphalt race and watched Hershel Mcgriff put the first jackhammer into the racing surface starting the demolition of the track.
    here now Gary.

  22. Sperry & Hutchinson (S&H) started their reward stamps in 1896, hitting their highest popularity in the early 1960's.
    So says Mr. Wikipedia
