This car was built to a Gasser style in the 60's but was not capable of a safe pass on the track. In 2015 we started updating everything for safety and making it capable of running as a true Gasser. With the help of the "American Gasser and Hot Rod Shop" a new straight axle was installed with new disc brakes. New Electric Fuel Pump was mounted in the rear and wired to the ignition. Complete roll cage was installed and several patch panels were welded in and finished. New tires were installed on the original wheels. OEM steering box was removed and a new vega box was installed with a new column. Mount was fab'd for a vintage Ansen fuel tank. This tank now works as an overflow tank, not fuel. Peek a boo mirrors were fab'd over both doors. Original wood wheel is retained. All guages are original vintage and the entire dash was retained as built originally. Many original custom touches from the 50's remain in the car.
Rearend from original build was an early Corvette Posi, not HD enough for a Gasser. I replaced that rear with a 1968-69 Nova from another race car. It has a 4:56 with a spool. All interior components are Moser with long studs.
Original radiator was flushed and tanks tested last year. New core was then installed.
When the motor was re-fired in 2015, the Mallory dual point distributor and coil were replaced because they weren't reliable. I have both vintage parts and they go with the car. We found the SBC 327 was a new service or replacement motor in 1968. It appears the builder installed an aftermarket cam, electric fuel pump, edlebrock cross-ram intake and the two Holley 1850 carbs. The story I got from the seller was the car threw the driveshaft on the first time out and was taken home. It remained in storage for 45 years.
Upon inspecting the motor in 2015, it was obvious the short block was still new with almost pure clear oil in the pan.

THIS CAR IS REGISTERED WITH SEGA (SOUTHEAST GASSER ASSOCIATION) #46 ON THEIR ROSTER. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST STRINGENT GASSER SANCTIONING BODIES CURRENTLY RUNNING EXHIBITIONS.
TWO CHANGES NEEDED TO COMPLY WITH SEGA RULES. DRIVERS, SIMPSON HARNESS NEEDS TO BE DYED BLACK TO BE PERIOD CORRECT AND SIDE EXHAUST NEEDS TO BE REMOVED AS ONLY FENDER WELL HEADERS ARE ALLOWED.
