Projects Building a foldable, stowable Roadster top

I'm very interested in the top, but am I missing the folding/stowable portion here?? I've made a non folding carson style top for my 32 coupster. you want to talk about a car with some legroom! I like the idea of folding as I too HATE driving an open car with a top on it. i have a top for my 28 roadster that's been on exactly once in 13 years. I do want more use out of my 32 though. new england makes this tough.

 

I think it's pretty well laid out in the first two pages of this thread.
Ultimately I will show it removed, knocked down and stowed in the trunk.

 

Welll,...it's workin!
Started the day today totally buttoned up. It got brutality hot by noon. The full-on cover did the job and even with the back window in place it was much more comfortable than no top at all with the intense sun. Later in the day, I "zipped off" the solid canvas "storm cover" which yielded filtered sun and more breeze.

This is very impressive. It was only earlier this year I put up a post about making a removable foldable Carson style top for a Model A Roadster project I want sell off. I never imagined in such a short that someone would actually craft one up, especially as nice as this one.

Takin the car apart for a trans transplant before Pleasanton. Figger'd as good a time as any to try to document the process of assemble/disassemble. A few little boogers to work out but overall, the plan was solid.

Currently on a thrash to change the transmission, replace rear main seal and rebuild the alternator bracket. As usual,...turned out to take longer than planned. So, what else is new!!!!!!!!.
I'm taking the car to Good Guys Pleasanton in 10 days. I'll be parking with Canadian friends in the "You Gotta Drive'm" section. If anyone from this forum is there, stop by and say "Howdy", eh!

 

Wish I could be there but I've burned through my vacation time and my finances. I love the look of the top!

SUCCESS!!!!!!
I am now about 4000 miles into this adventure. I am thrilled, couldn't be happier. Probably the best thing I have done to the car since I've owned it. Met all the parameters. And, as many guys had lectured,...I'm inclined to leave it on. But,.... let me qualify.
With the top on, it's still almost like driving a Roadster. With the mesh, 'tho filtered, you get the full view almost like a Roadster. With the full opaque top, the view is as if from a coupe. The diff. is, the full Roadster view vs looking at the world through a "slot",...like a Coupe.
The mesh sheds water pretty well too. Forgetting to cover it one night after too many beers, a heavy marine layer in Oregon left all of the cars dripping. About half of that water got through the mesh. But not as bad as a topless car, the interior was pretty wet. Nuthin new for me!
That said, the mesh sheds water quite well at speed. Got caught in a heavy downpour later that day. A downside was, the visor affects an air flow that directs the water, usually wrapping over the top of the windshield, downward and blows it in my face through the gap at the cowl. Easy fix with a rubber gasket or,.....duct tape.
I encourage all y'all whether topless, with folding or rigid tops, to consider this feature. Ya know, the sun's ain't giving up on tryin to kill you. It's almost like not giving-up that which we love about our open cars.

Your project turned out just perfect. It just shows that anything can be done if you put the time and effort into it.
