1958 GMC 1/2 ton truck GMC 302 engine with 3 speed OD transmission. Looking to convert to 6lug disc on the front; with a dual master cylinder(possibly power assist)mounted on frame. Where is the best deal on what i need? Will the power assist mc work with my transmission?
You should google disc brakes for 1958 gmc a see what hits you get when you find stuff message the vendor andd ask if they will fit your application.
Power brakes are vacuum driven. They don’t care what transmission you’re using. Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
With the 3 speed OD transmission- I read that some power assisted mc setups wont work due to clearance issues?
I had Camaro disc brakes on my 57 Suburban, and a manual dual master cylinder mounted close to the stock location (back several inches) with an aftermarket bracket. The brakes worked ok, but it did take some pedal effort. But I think it was a 1-1/8" bore master, if you use a 1" then it should work pretty well, you get a little more "leverage" that way. there is not much room under there for a power booster...lots of stuff in the way.
There's Kits using your Spindles, They use a Rotor off of a Newer Model K-Series 6 lug Chevy. You get Brackets that Bolt to your Spindles for the Calipers.
