1969 Bill Mitchell GM Rivetta Concept

What is Bill Mitchell walked into the Buick design studio and rolled in a '69 Corvette chassis and had them take the design language they were creating for the 1971 Buick Riviera and build it as a 2-seat grand tourer for his own personal use. Riviera + Corvette = Rivetta.

  10. I've been messing about with the Ibis Paint X again.
I liberate a pic off Google, then add layers and touch up with the airbrush. I'm still learning this app. Untitled159.png Untitled157.png Untitled158.png Untitled111.png Untitled86.png

  13. And while I'm hogging the thread, here's one I always loved of the Bass Coupe. I added a few layers, then used the airbrush to color it up some.

    Hello,

Having owned two 1940 Ford Sedan Deliveries in a 10 year span starting in high school, we have always been bothered by the lack of rear quarter vision on the passenger side. The small outside mirrors were ok, but to keep the style stock, those mirrors were really small. (even if you added the convex versions) The bigger, taller mirrors would do the trick, but they would stick out and not look original.
upload_2018-8-10_3-46-47.png Clear vision all around...A big, old, GMC Suburban for those short and long surf trips in So Cal…

After riding around in larger Suburbans (with lots of room inside and a clear vision all around in our old neighborhood,) was like night and day compared to our old 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery. It was like you are on a 360 degree mountain top. Our neighbor’s Suburban was a very large vehicle to drive and maneuver. But, the vision all around in traffic and open road was miraculous. Nothing, except for small bicycles could sneak up on your right side without you noticing movement.

Now, the larger mirrors helped with the rearward vision. But, those large Suburbans were a bear to find a parking spot, actually parallel park, (before diagonal parking) and were so large that handling was not very sporty. One good thing: It did move a lot of “stuff” wherever it was necessary. (kids, rocks, plywood, plants/trees, etc.)

Thanks to “The Moose” for the custom photo of a 40 Ford Sedan Delivery with a “Suburban” style look. I am sure the purists are flipping over in their nightmares. But, that darn, right rear quarter, blind spot was a killer of a hindrance in daily driving. That was one thing my wife did not like about driving our second, 327, A/C 1940 Sedan Delivery anywhere. She like being inside, but only if I drove after a few years.

I did a similar photo of HAMB’s Weasel’s, red 40 delivery and finally my simple drawing. It was a miniature Suburban for daily driving. It had all of the goodness of the smaller sedan delivery without any hindrance in vision back in the right rear panel area. Still no drip rails for roof racks, though. Nowadays, my short board would fit inside a sedan delviery, in its protective surfboard padded bag. No more pop out rear door window situations…!

  19. Nice work! I was going to post something about my art being at Bonneville, but you post trumps it!!

(BTW, I was offered and accepted the opportunity to pinstripe this truck for my good friend @john mullen with @D-Russ at the controls! John and team have built a super truck that ought to give the record a run for its money!!!)

This may get deleted but here goes. At MARSHALLS.jpg least it shows that I have been painting. This is for my wife to hang on the fence. Local defunct nursery with a lot of history. Antique store owner would not sell the original, so I made my own.

I asked our very own Jigger for permission to paint his art on a traffic signal lens. Thanks Mark for the o.k. I'll see you at Larry's car show on Aug. 26 IMG_3311.JPG
