  5. We are moving right along through Missouri, not running hard, just 60-65 to "save" the tow vehicle for the "hills" in Colorado ....

At this point, no runs, no hits, no errors and that's a good thing ....

I always thought that 50 mph was a good average pulling a much smaller trailer from San Francisco area. 632 miles from my garage to the Bonneville turn off. On a good day I would take just over 11 hours.

  11. Safe travels! Honk when you pass exit 204 in Kansas!

  14. Thanks for all the good wishes and comments, gents. We really appreciate it ....
It's 6:10 and we are on the road in a little bit of rain ....

Fortunately, we should be done with it in an hour or so. As you probably all know, salt conditions are the best they've been in years. Our man on the scene, Doug, has already arrived and carved out a camping spot for all of us at the bend in the road. We have Doug's popup, we've brought Dave's tent, and my buddy Rick from New Mexico is bringing his 24' travel trailer. The spots are on gravel and are slightly elevated so should there be any rain (which there is only a small chance on one day), flooding will not be an issue. Doug is a veteran of Bonneville which gives us a leg up on a bunch of things for us newbies, including ....

Doug will also be working on getting our pit spot on Wed morning. Again, another really big help along with other exciting things that will happen for/to us so stay tuned!

  15. Keep it between the lines fellas...there's a record waiting to fall on the Salt!!!

  16. I bet those new brakes are feeling good.

Thx, Tom T, for posting a link to this on Old Farts Soc. Group. I do get here on the main board a good bit, but hadn't seen this thread.
Hope the trip continues as well as it has so far and from what I've seen of that truck while visiting John over the past couple of years, I have no doubt that yall are gonna bust that record wide open.
One of these days when I am up there in Lanexa visiting my sister, who is also on faculty @Wm.& Mary and lives in Lanexa, I'm gonna catch you at home and finally get to meet you.

Nice to get off the interstate. We are going north to pick up I80. Doing it now to miss the I80 construction, going part way through Nebraska and into Wyoming ....
