These doors I have are without the latches. What is best replacement latches aftermarket available? Thanks David

  2. I used 1960’s 2CV door locks and made my own strikers - but reproduction T locks are expensive over here and I had the 2CV locks hanging around. The 26T doors are so basic you could use a variety of simple locks.

I would use Bear Jaw latches. Much safer system. With original T latches, any body flex will let the doors pop open. Speaking from experience.

Model A Ford roadster latches work the best and take very little work to make the fit the 26-27 T open car doors

Wescotts used to sell them, don't know if they still. Nice pieces.
    Cheers,

Search for the story about someone here getting hung up literally trying to climb out of their little T roadster door. Hung up on the latch post that has to stick out in the door opening in order to use a bear claw latch .:D

Once you read that you’ll realize that what you posted is terrible advice and won’t work. :D

I think I still have a latch from a 27 roadster. Not sure if left or Right but it includes door and jam. If it will help, let me know and I will dig it out.

Speedway Motors sells some very nice thin bear claw latch kits that I used in my Arin Cee Roadster project with great success. They worked in my Model A roadster doors and are probably thin enough to work well in T doors as well. Oh...and the hogwash about getting hung up on the latch pin is just that - hogwash. Even the guy who got his skivvies hooked on the pin was laughing about it. Too fat for his own good. Good luck!

It’s not hogwash, maybe in your mind. There’s no way I would want a latch pin sticking out into the already tiny door opening of my RPU.

And it doesn’t matter whether you’re 125 lbs or 225 with that one because unless you’re a small child T roadster doors are too small.

The new stock style latches I bought along with the good quality strikers and my doors are perfect.
