Rat Woodie, isn't it great getting straight answers to a simple question?

So, what is wrong with suggesting simple ways for a person to get simple answers and improve their self sufficiency in the process?

I totally agree....check my posts and see for yourself. That said, there are a few folks here that ask questions that they could easily answer for themselves with little to no effort. Like "how wide is the ramisfratz on my car" ? The answer, "get a tape measure". You have the item right there! The lug nut question seems to fall into that category.

The questions whose answers that are more obscure and require some experience/background are the meat and potatoes of this forum. There is no place better for a wealth of knowledge on a wide variety of on topic subjects.

I agree. There are questions that can easily be answered by using google, calling the local dealer's
parts department or asking someone at a show or cruise. Sometimes I cringe when I see some of
the questions that are asked but I think that if someone asks a straight question he should be
given a straight answer. There's always someone who has to be a wiseass and that's what bothers
me. It's easy to give a straight answer or just move on.

  13. Absolutely...I agree

  14. Or take one to Ace Hardware and match it up, some stores carry a bunch of car hardware.

A simple answer is always best. We don't know what position the person is in. What if the car has been sitting on blocks and there are no lugs. We can't always assume

  17. Last time I went to Google with a question I got a pop up that said: "Why don't you check the H.A.M.B. before asking here?"

  18. I think smartass comments and gestures come with the car world. It's part of the fun and gives you tough skin

When I worked in parts in Ford dealership I would joke about the part number tag on the parts bin....

    32/ all

Fit all cars and some trucks 1932 and later. I believe the part number change in 1960 was when the hex size changed but still sold to fit all the way back.

The guy just asked about lug nut size. When I was a kid I was told to go look it up. My kids would ask me to do something easy or that they should know, I'd tell them to figure it out. Lug nut size fits in those categories.
