Technical Input shaft leak- 38 Coupe

    Tranny is leaking from the input shaft. Weeping from the hole that sits under the throw-out bearing. I assume this is by design to lubricate the bearing but it is a significant amount. How can that happen? Is overfill the only possibility? I filled the case up to the fill opening but did not measure 1.5 pints which is called for. Maybe that is too much? Thoughts? thanks

    Is this on the '38 Chev ? If you still have the 6 screw bearing retainer, they had a habit of cracking. Using 90w gear lube ? Anything lighter seeps ...

    they didn't use a seal on the front of Chevy transmissions until modern times....so seeping is normal. The advise above is good.

    looks like it is coming from the weep hole as designed but just a lot of it! ill dbbl check the weight.

    Oil weight is correct. New retainer and gasket installed. Still leaks like crazy right down the shaft. Could the slinger not be functioning correctly to cause this?
