Let's get a thread going with hot rods running four springs. I will get it started with this 31 Chevy roadster. I am building a 31 2 door sedan and am using this roadster as a guide in regards to stance and wheel/tire combo.
I'm interested to see what pops up in this thread. To be honest, I've thought about building and early Chevrolet, but I thought I'd just us an early ford axle and transverse spring to simplify things.
Looks nice. Sits pretty low too. Have never heard of a Dort. Looks cool. I remember this from a Hot Rod magazine a while back. Has a big block Mopar...right? Dan, I was going to do the same thing. I have a 40 Ford front end that was going to be used. Then I started looking at the front end currently in my sedan and changed directions.
My '37 Chevy pickup built by fellow HAMBer, Tony Pascarella "Truckedup". Suspension description by Tony when sold to me was "The stock front axle has Camaro disc brakes, mono leaf springs, sway bar,gas shocks . Frame is not cut.The rear axle is a 57 Chevy car,3.36 gears, leaf springs ,lowering blocks,Panhard rod,gas shocks. This truck sits about 2-3 inches lower than stock.46 Chevy steering box." I picked it up at his location in Upstate New York and drove it back to South Florida in 2008. My plug-in GPS told me the 302 Jimmy pushed it to at least 92 mph as my top speed during that trip. The truck has always been stable with no indication of getting "light" at speed.
Always irritates me to see a guy build a nice non Ford ride and ruin it by putting a buggy spring setup under it. I know it's easier to get them lower, but still.........
My new 37 Plymouth coupe (I know not really on topic here, but it is a starting point that will become more on topic as time goes) has four leaf springs.

Both 4 springers...No idea what make the maroon one is...But its got a straight 6 & looks like its all metal. I assume the red one is mostly Chevrolet... Since i see bowties on almost every piece of it ...Its a 4cyl. To bad i never found the drivers.....
