I do have some progress to report.

I bought a 34 chassis that came out of an old hot rod. Has a title, too!

built 283, stick with overdrive and Ford 9 inch. I love stick with overdrive, so that will stay unless it is found to have issues.

Verno30 and I are hoping to get rolling in spring, when his new shop is ready. Thinking the Gibbons Kid body is the way to go.

Glad to hear about the progress.
Really looking forward to seeing it done.
It’s great to realize a dream.

I’m still waiting to start mine. ;).

A little inspiration for you. I picked up this glass car a little while ago and had been trying to figure out what to do with it (see my street rod to hot rod thread). The other day I was playing around with it and laid out some flames by hand thinking the car could use some color. Started looking at different flames on the internet and of course, The California Kid kept coming up. Decided to do it up in a sort of clone car. Not going to be exact but more of a inspired look with similar flames. Not sure to go with steelies or Halibrands as I like both but probably the latter.Anyway, just wanted to show you that a glass car can look okay (I think).

Good luck with yours and try to post photos of what you have so far if you can. I'm sure veryone would like to see them.

    Thank you Nick.

I am not sure about Legend status. Seems like a gross overstatement to me.

What’s the name of the museum, perhaps they have a pic online?

Unfortunately I don't remember, and I don't remember what town it was in... I was on my way to Tejas this spring and stopped in. I was kind of meandering...

Did a quick Google Search, it was the Route 66 Auto Museum in Santa Rosa, NM... The "Santa Rosa Kid" can be seen at the :45 mark of this crappy youtube video...

Or you could’ve had the CK II???? 46596354-1E34-4D4A-8089-DAAAE784D75A.png I see that it was listed at $55k. I know it’s Pro-Street and now has rubber legs up front, but a dropped axle and a 57-59 Ford 9”rear stock width could be swapped in that space and a nice 15x8.5” Real Wheels could fill that space, the pin-striping could’ve been switched out to white, the lettering in Its movie font and best of all it was built @ P&J’s Grandview Mo. in 1990. That’s 28 years ago and it still looks brand new.....
